Occurrence of cassava mosaic begomovirus-associated satellites on cassava in Ghana

open access: yesCogent Food & Agriculture, 2021
Cassava mosaic disease (CMD), arguably the most important viral disease of cassava, an important food security crop has in recent times, been reported to be associated with satellites in some parts of sub-Saharan Africa.

Epidemiological Analysis of Cassava Mosaic and Brown Streak Diseases, and Bemisia tabaci in the Comoros Islands

open access: yesViruses, 2022
A comprehensive assessment of cassava brown streak disease (CBSD) and cassava mosaic disease (CMD) was carried out in Comoros where cassava yield (5.7 t/ha) is significantly below the African average (8.6 t/ha) largely due to virus diseases. Observations

First report of cassava mosaic disease and cassava mosaic geminiviruses in Gabon [PDF]

open access: yesPlant Pathology, 2004
Cassava mosaic disease (CMD), arguably Africa's greatest plant protection problem, has been known to occur in central/West Africa for more than 70 years. There is, however, no published record of the occurrence of CMD or the cassava mosaic geminiviruses (CMGs) that cause it from the central African country of Gabon.

Cutting Dipping Application of Flupyradifurone against Cassava Whiteflies Bemisia tabaci and Impact on Its Parasitism in Cassava

open access: yesInsects, 2023
The cassava whitefly Bemisia tabaci causes damage in cassava through the feeding and vectoring of plant viruses that cause cassava mosaic and cassava brown streak diseases.

Evaluation of whitefly population and weather effect of cassava mosaic incidence on commonly grown cassava in Benue State, Nigeria

open access: yesJournal of Applied Sciences and Environmental Management, 2020
Vector population and weather are critical in virus disease incidence and could be strategic for its management in agriculture. To investigate the influence of whitefly population and weather on Cassava Mosaic Disease (CMD) in cassava, TMS 419 and TME ...

The Agrobacterium tumefaciens Ti Plasmid Virulence Gene virE2 Reduces Sri Lankan Cassava Mosaic Virus Infection in Transgenic Nicotiana benthamiana Plants

open access: yesViruses, 2015
Cassava mosaic disease is a major constraint to cassava cultivation worldwide. In India, the disease is caused by Indian cassava mosaic virus (ICMV) and Sri Lankan cassava mosaic virus (SLCMV).

Cassava mosaic geminiviruses associated with cassava mosaic disease in Rwanda

open access: yesInternational Journal of Pest Management, 2005
Cassava mosaic disease (CMD), and cassava mosaic geminiviruses (CMGs), were investigated in a country-wide survey conducted in six cassava-producing prefectures (administrative regions) of Rwanda in 2001. CMD occurred throughout the country at an average incidence of 30%. Incidence was highest in Kigali (44%) and lowest in Butare (11%).

Mutations in DNA polymerase δ subunit 1 co-segregate with CMD2-type resistance to Cassava Mosaic Geminiviruses

open access: yesNature Communications, 2022
Cassava mosaic disease is caused by geminiviruses and suppresses cassava yields throughout the tropics. Here, the authors show that mutations in MePOLD1, encoding DNA polymerase δ subunit 1, co-segregate with CMD2, the major source of genetic resistance ...
