Indian cassava mosaic virus (Indian cassava mosaic).
2021Abstract Other than their countries of origin, India and Sri Lanka for ICMV and SLCMV, respectively, SLCMV has also been reported in India (Dutt et al., 2005; Jose et al., 2011) and Cambodia (Wang et al., 2016) while new strains of ICMV have been identified as causative agents of Jatropha curcas mosaic disease in Jatropha curcas from India ...

A novel cassava-infecting begomovirus from Madagascar: cassava mosaic Madagascar virus
Archives of Virology, 2012Cassava mosaic geminiviruses (CMGs) are implicated in cassava mosaic disease (CMD), the main constraint to cassava production in Africa. Here, we report the complete nucleotide sequences of the DNA-A and DNA-B of a newly characterized CMG found infecting cassava in Madagascar, for which we propose the tentative name cassava mosaic Madagascar virus ...

East African cassava mosaic virus. [Distribution map].
Distribution Maps of Plant Diseases, 2021Abstract A new distribution map is provided for East African cassava mosaic virus (Geplafuvirales: Geminiviridae: Begomovirus). Host: cassava ( Manihot esculenta ). Information is given on the geographical distribution in Africa (Angola, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad ...

SummaryThe severity and persistence of symptoms of mosaic virus disease were monitored during the first six months of two growing seasons in cassava of the African cassava mosaic virus (ACMV)‐resistant cv. TMS 30572 either inoculated by grafting with a mild or severe strain or infected from the planted cutting.

The DNA A and DNA B components of a begomovirus associated with cassava mosaic disease (CMD) originating from Kerala, India, were cloned. Biolistically inoculated clones induced symptoms typical of CMD in cassava. Sequence comparisons showed the virus to be an isolate of Sri Lankan cassava mosaic virus (SLCMV).

Infectivity of African cassava mosaic virus clones to cassava by biolistic inoculation
Archives of Virology, 1998Clones of an African cassava mosaic virus isolate originating from Nigeria (ACMV-NOg) were shown to be infectious to cassava by biolistic inoculation. The production of pseudorecombinants between ACMV-NOg and clones of an ACMV isolate originating from Kenya (ACMV-K) indicated that the lack of infectivity of ACMV-K to cassava was due to defect(s) in the

Efficient replication of cloned African cassava mosaic virus in cassava leaf disks
Virus Research, 2003A transient viral replication assay for cloned African cassava mosaic virus (ACMV) was developed using cassava leaf disks. TMS60444 leaf disks were transfected using biolistic-mediated inoculation with ACMV clones pKACMVA and pKACMVB, which originate from West Kenya ACMV isolate 844 (ACMV-KE).

Biolistic infection of cassava using cloned components of Indian cassava mosaic virus
Archives of Virology, 2005Cassava mosaic disease (CMD) is a major constraint to cassava production in Africa and Asia. Of the two begomoviruses associated with CMD on the Indian subcontinent, Indian cassava mosaic virus (ICMV) and Sri Lankan cassava mosaic virus, only the latter has been successfully reintroduced into cassava to resolve the aetiology of the disease.

Cassava is an important food security crop in Sub-Saharan Africa. Two episomal begomovirus-associated sequences, named Sequences Enhancing Geminivirus Symptoms (SEGS1 and SEGS2), were identified in field cassava affected by the devastating cassava mosaic disease (CMD).
