The Behavior of Gas Bubbles in the Casson Fluid

Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1978
In the present paper, the equation of motion for the bubble and the pressure equation at the bubble wall in a Casson fluid were obtained. Then by using the derived equations, the behavior in the case where a gas bubble in human blood grows or collapses by the difference between the inside and the outside pressure of the bubble were numerically ...

Peristaltic transport of a Casson fluid in an asymmetric channel

Australasian Physics & Engineering Sciences in Medicine, 2004
The peristaltic transport of a Casson fluid in a two-dimensional asymmetric channel is studied under long- wavelength and low-Reynolds number assumption. The asymmetry in the channel is created by considering the peristaltic waves imposed on the boundary walls to possess different amplitude and phase.

Entry and exit flows of casson fluids

The Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, 1994
AbstractEntry and exit flows through abrupt contractions are studied numerically for Casson fluids exhibiting a yield stress. The Casson constitutive equation recommended for describing blood flow is used with an appropriate modification proposed by Papanastasiou, which applies everywhere in the flow field in both yielded and practically unyielded ...

Peristaltic flow of a Casson fluid in an annulus

Korea-Australia Rheology Journal, 2012
Peristaltic transport of a non-Newtonian fluid through the annular gap between two coaxial tubes is studied. We assumed that the inner tube is rigid whereas the outer tube has sinusoidal wave travelling down its wall. We modelled the flowing fluid as a Casson fluid to study the combined effects of yield stress (plug width) and annular gap on ...

Flow of a Casson fluid on a rotating disk

Acta Mechanica Sinica, 1987
The flow of a thin layer of a Casson fluid on a rotating disk is considered. The film thickness distribution at various times for various initial thickness distribution is calculated. The stability of the flow is also examined.

Couette Viscometry of Casson Fluids

Journal of Rheology, 1983
The solution of the equations of motion for a Casson model non‐Newtonian fluid in a rotational Couette viscometer is presented. Proper equations for determination of rheological parameters from data obtained from commercial viscometers are derived and presented.

The application of the minimal energy hypothesis to a casson fluid

The Bulletin of Mathematical Biophysics, 1970
Deakin (1967b) suggested that flow of blood might obey a law of minimal energy dissipation. The present paper presents a simpler derivation of Deakin’s equations pointing out several previously unrecognized features. It is shown that these equations are unlikely to be applicable.

A note on the poiseuille-type flow of a casson fluid

The Bulletin of Mathematical Biophysics, 1969
When a Casson fluid flows in a tube, there is a central region of plug flow. It is shown that, unless hematocrit varies markedly with radius, this region is so small that it may be neglected in all physiologically relevant cases.
