Mitochondrial genomes reveal slow rates of molecular evolution and the timing of speciation in beavers (Castor), one of the largest rodent species.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2011
BackgroundBeavers are one of the largest and ecologically most distinct rodent species. Little is known about their evolution and even their closest phylogenetic relatives have not yet been identified with certainty.

Monitoring and prospects for conservation and rational use of the resources of the Eurasian beaver (Castor fiber Linnaeus, 1758) on the example of the Samara Region

open access: yesSamara Journal of Science, 2021
The paper examines characteristics of the Eurasian beaver population (Castor fiber Linnaeus, 1758) on territories with different anthropogenic load. Monitoring the beaver population and habitat, including the landscape basis and natural zoning with the ...

Laser‐Induced Graphene from Waste Almond Shells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Almond shells, an abundant agricultural by‐product, are repurposed to create a fully bioderived almond shell/chitosan composite (ASC) degradable in soil. ASC is converted into laser‐induced graphene (LIG) by laser scribing and proposed as a substrate for transient electronics.

Statut actuel du castor, Castor fiber Linnaeus, 1758 en France [PDF]

open access: yesActa Theriologica, 1965

Strain‐Programmable Luminescent Adhesive Patch With Tartrazine‐Mediated Optical Skin Clearing for Photochemical Tissue Bonding

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We propose a suture‐complementary approach that integrates optical skin clearing with a strain‐programmable luminescent adhesive patch. Hyaluronic acid promotes transdermal delivery of tartrazine to improve optical clearing and stabilizes its interaction with a photosensitizer. Optical clearing increases the penetration depth of visible light into skin,

Observation of Eurasian beaver (Castor fiber L.) in the Jopićeva Cave (Croatia)

open access: yesNatura Croatica
After its reintroduction in northern Croatia, the Eurasian beaver (Castor fiber L.) successfully spread to new areas along streams. Although the beaver has spread in a part of Croatia covered with karst, the information published to date about beavers ...
