The development of the CAT-EyeQ to measure vision-related quality of life in patients with exudative retinal diseases [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
This thesis focuses on the development of an instrument to measure the impact of exudative retina diseases on patients’ daily life. The development process was carried out in several stages: 1.

Interrogating the immune landscape of microsatellite stable RAS‐mutated colon cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
COLOSSUS project RAS‐mutated MSS colon cancer study explored transcriptomics and immune cell density by immunohistochemistry (IHC), Immunoscore (IS), ISIC/TuLIS scores, mutation counts, and detected different prevalences but similar microenvironment composition across immune markers with clinical relevance for future immunotherapy combination ...

Simultaneous recordings of action potentials and calcium transients from human induced pluripotent stem cell derived cardiomyocytes

open access: yesBiology Open, 2018
Human induced pluripotent stem cell derived cardiomyocytes (hiPSC-CMs) offer a unique in vitro platform to study cardiac diseases, as they recapitulate many disease phenotypes.

Analysis of haplotypes of CAT, TLR4, and IL10 genes in bronchial asthma patients comorbid with arterial hypertension

open access: yesСибирский научный медицинский журнал, 2020
Co-occurrence of cardiovascular diseases is significantly common among patients with bronchial asthma. Genetic factors can have a significant effect on the development of hypertension in patients with asthma. Objective of the study was to investigate the

Sensitization patterns to cat molecular allergens in subjects with allergic sensitization to cat dander

open access: yesClinical and Translational Allergy, 2023
Background The use of molecular allergology has increasingly become common in the diagnosis and management of allergic diseases. However, there is still a lack of data on cat molecular allergens in adults. Therefore, we aimed to uncover the sensitization

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

Suitability of the WHO 25 x 25 chronic disease targets and indicators for Australia [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The World Health Organization’s (WHO) Global Action Plan for the Prevention and Control of NCDs 2013‐2020 aims to reduce the burden of non‐communicable diseases by 2025, through action on nine targets measured by 25 indicators of performance.

Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

E2A selectively regulates TGF‐β–induced apoptosis in KRAS‐mutant non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Ability to induce apoptosis by TGF‐β is frequently lost in advanced lung adenocarcinoma despite intact TGF‐β signaling. We identify E2A as a mutant KRAS–dependent mediator of resistance to TGF‐β–induced apoptosis. TGF‐β induces E2A via SMAD3 in mutant KRAS cells, and E2A silencing restores apoptosis and enhances radiation response in cell lines ...
