Assessing the societal influence of academic research with ChatGPT: Impact case study evaluations
Abstract Academics and departments are sometimes judged by how their research has benefited society. For example, the UK's Research Excellence Framework (REF) assesses Impact Case Studies (ICSs), which are five‐page evidence‐based claims of societal impacts.

Consecutive pattern-avoidance in Catalan words according to the last symbol
We study the distribution of the last symbol statistics on the sets of Catalan words avoiding a consecutive pattern of length at most three. For each pattern p, we provide a bivariate generating function, where the coefficient cp(n,k) of xnyk in its ...

Ears of triangulations and Catalan numbers
AbstractIt is known that a convex polygon of n sides admits Cn-2 triangulations, where Cn is a Catalan number. We classify these triangulations (considered as outerplanar graphs) according to their dual trees, and prove the following formula for the number of triangulations of a convex n-gon whose dual tree has exactly k leaves: nk2n−2kn−42k−4Ck−2The ...

Last Symbol Distribution in Pattern Avoiding Catalan Words
We study the distribution of the last symbol statistics on the sets of Catalan words avoiding a pattern of length at most three. For each pattern p, we provide a bivariate rational generating function where the coefficient $$\varvec{c}_p(n,k)$$

Catalan Numbers for the Classroom?
• Catalan numbers appear in various mathematical disciplines. By showing pupils different interpretations of the Catalan numbers one can make them aware of links between seemingly unrelated phenomena. • The basic study of Catalan numbers is accessible at pre-university level; it requires no knowledge beyond elementary mathematics.

This review highlights the principles, recent advances, and emerging applications of Scanning Electrochemical Microscopy (SECM) in electrocatalysis. We discuss its use in carbon dioxide and oxygen electrocatalysis, the detection of short‐lived intermediates, and provide a framework for its implementation in investigations of electrocatalytic interfaces.
