Taylor expansions for Catalan and Motzkin numbers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
In this paper we introduce two new expansions for the generating functions of Catalan numbers and Motzkin numbers. The novelty of the expansions comes from writing the Taylor remainder as a functional of the generating function.

Simple Rules of a Discrete Stochastic Process Leading to Catalan-like Recurrences

open access: yesAlgorithms
A method for obtaining integer sequences is presented by defining simple rules for the evolution of a discrete dynamical system. This paper demonstrates that various Catalan-like recurrences of known integer sequences can be obtained from a single ...

A determinant property of Catalan numbers

open access: yesDiscrete Mathematics, 2000
Let \(M_k^t\) denote the \(k \times k\) (persymmetric) matrix having the consecutive Catalan numbers starting at \(c_t\) as row one, those starting at \(c_{t+1}\) as row two, etc. Now define \(G\) to be the infinite digraph with vertex set \({\mathbb{Z}} \times {\mathbb{Z}}\) and with directed arcs from \((i,j)\) to \((i+1,j)\), and to \({(i,j+1 ...

Don't Just Train, Inspire: The Critical Role of Motivation in Corporate Green Behavior

open access: yesBusiness Strategy and the Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study examines how green training influences corporate green behavior, with a particular focus on the mediating role of organizational green motivation. Drawing on the resource‐based view and the ability‐motivation‐opportunity framework, we propose a model in which green training builds environmental capability and fosters motivation ...

Financial Health and Environmental Transparency in the Catalan Pharmaceutical Sector (2019–2023)

open access: yesCorporate Social Responsibility and Environmental Management, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study examines the relationship between financial health (2019–2023) and the transparency of environmental information disclosure in leading Catalan pharmaceutical companies. Based on an economic–financial analysis of financial statements and environmental information reported in accordance with the European Sustainability Reporting ...

Some Combinatorial Interpretations and Applications of Fuss-Catalan Numbers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Fuss-Catalan number is a family of generalized Catalan numbers. We begin by two definitions of Fuss-Catalan numbers and some basic properties. And we give some combinatorial interpretations different from original Catalan numbers.

Stochastic and deterministic processes influencing mountain mire diatom communities across spatial scales

open access: yesEcography, EarlyView.
Understanding how deterministic and stochastic processes influence the shape of microorganism community assembly across different spatial scales is essential for disentangling biodiversity patterns. Mires are nutrient‐poor and heterogeneous wetlands that form isolated habitats supporting highly diverse diatom assemblages, particularly in mountainous ...

Action graphs and Catalan numbers

open access: yesJ. Integer Seq., 2015
We introduce an inductively defined sequence of directed graphs and prove that the number of edges added at step $k$ is equal to the $k$th Catalan number. Furthermore, we establish an isomorphism between the set of edges adjoined at step $k$ and the set of planar rooted trees with $k$ edges.
