Seasonal catch composition and catch per unit effort of coastal fishery in Yenişakran (Çandarlı Bay, Aegean Sea)

open access: yesEge Journal of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences, 2020
This study presents the catch records of a coastal fisherman during daily fishing trip between 2017 and 2018 in Yenişakran, Çandarlı Bay (Aegean Sea). The trammel net and longline were used at depths of 5-25 m on a sandy bottom and the sea meadows during the year.

Transfer of Energy and Momentum Between Magnetoactive Surface Microstructure and a Solid Object

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
We demonstrate that magnetoactive multilamellar arrays subjected to a rotating magnetic field can function as platforms for controlled transport of physical objects. Through systematic experimental investigation, we elucidate the underlying physical mechanisms determining the upper limit of the achievable transportation speed in such magnetic “conveyor‐

Southern California anchovy reduction fishery sampling plan review [PDF]

open access: yes, 1975
The sampling plan applied to the northern anchovy, Engraulis mordax, reduction fishery catch was reviewed to determine the effects on age composition estimates which would be caused by decreasing the sample size per stratum of catch.

Sustainable Synthesis of Bio‐Based Magnetic and Conductive Wood for Electromagnetic Interference Shielding Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A wood‐based magnetic and conductive material called Magwood (MW), capable of blocking almost 99.99% of electromagnetic waves (in the X‐band frequency range), is synthesized using a simple, solvent‐free process. MW is lightweight, resists water, and is flame‐retardant, making it a promising alternative for shielding electronics. The rapid proliferation

Toward Ecosystem-Based Assessment and Management of Small-Scale and Multi-Gear Fisheries: Insights From the Tropical Eastern Pacific

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science, 2019
Small-scale fisheries (SSF) remain a largely under-assessed and overlooked sector by governments and researchers, despite contributing approximately 50% to global fish landings and providing food and income for millions of people.

NanoMOF‐Based Multilevel Anti‐Counterfeiting by a Combination of Visible and Invisible Photoluminescence and Conductivity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents novel anti‐counterfeiting tags with multilevel security features that utilize additional disguise features. They combine luminescent nanosized Ln‐MOFs with conductive polymers to multifunctional mixed‐matrix membranes and powder composites. The materials exhibit visible/NIR emission and matrix‐based conductivity even as black bodies.

The blackback flounder and its fishery in New England and New York [PDF]

open access: yes, 1947
A decline in the abundance of blackback flounders, together with the withdrawal of vessels from this fishery, has resulted in a lowered catch in recent years compared to the peak period 1928 through 1931. Data obtained from U. S.

Competition between static gear of the small-scale fisheries in Algarve waters (southern Portugal) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Parallel fishing trials with 0.30 mm diameter monofilament gill nets and longlines using small hooks were carried out in the Algarve (southern Portugal) over a one-year period, 1997-1998, with the objective of comparing species composition, catch rates ...
