Differential expression of cancer‐related genes supports prediction of poor response to first‐line treatments in T‐ALL pediatric patients with high minimal residual disease

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the present work, we have identified a transcriptional signature based on the differential expression of six genes (BCL2&MAST4, HSH2D&LAT2, METRN&PITPNM2) that would facilitate the early detection of T‐cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T‐ALL) patients prone to a poor treatment response and could be implemented at diagnosis, along with other risk ...

Assessing Measurement Equivalence in Ordered-Categorical Data

open access: yesPsicológica, 2012
La invarianza factorial estudia de la equivalencia métrica en el marco del modelo lineal del factor común por medio de la comparación de los parámetros del modelo de medida en los grupos de interés.

Correspondence analysis and categorical conjoint measurement [PDF]

open access: yes
We show the equivalence between the use of correspondence analysis (CA) of concadenated tables and the application of a particular version of conjoint analysis called categorical conjoint measurement (CCM).

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

A Multivariate Fuzzy Weighted K-Modes Algorithm with Probabilistic Distance for Categorical Data

open access: yesJournal of ICT Research and Applications
Data clustering is a data mining approach that assigns similar data to the same group. Traditionally, cluster similarity considers all attributes equally, but in real-world applications, some attributes may be more important than others. Therefore, this

Categorical and coordinate visuospatial processing in younger and older adults

open access: yes, 2009
In this thesis, four experiments were conducted in which participants made a categorical or coordinate spatial relation judgement concerning the location of a dot in relation to a bar.

Heterozygous loss‐of‐function alleles associate the conserved 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease EXOSC10 with hypersensitivity to the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
EXOSC10, an essential nuclear RNA exosome‐associated 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease, is inhibited by the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil (5‐FU), and EXOSC10 depletion increases 5‐FU sensitivity. The colon‐cancer variant EXOSC10S402T, located in a proteolysis motif, is stable and nuclear but nonfunctional in vivo.

An efficient k-modes algorithm for clustering categorical datasets

open access: yes, 2022
Mining clusters from data is an important endeavor in many applications. The k-means method is a popular, efficient, and distribution-free approach for clustering numerical-valued data, but does not apply for categorical-valued observations.

Unsupervised Coupled Metric Similarity for Non-IID Categorical Data [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
© 1989-2012 IEEE. Appropriate similarity measures always play a critical role in data analytics, learning, and processing. Measuring the intrinsic similarity of categorical data for unsupervised learning has not been substantially addressed, and even ...

ESR1 methylation and ESR1 mutations in circulating tumor cells (CTCs) and paired plasma‐cfDNA of advanced breast cancer patients: A feasibility proof‐of‐concept study

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Circulating tumor cells (CTCs) and plasma cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) were analyzed to detect ESR1 mutations and methylation in patients with advanced breast cancer. CTC‐derived DNA showed higher sensitivity for mutation detection and revealed complementary genetic and epigenetic alterations, highlighting the added value of CTC analysis for understanding ...
