Cationic copolymerization of isobutene. IV. Copolymer degree of polymerization in cationic polymerization

Journal of Polymer Science Part C: Polymer Symposia, 1967
AbstractThe lowering of degree of polymerization in cationic copolymerization was investigated for the isobutene–styrene copolymerizations in particular. In this system the simultaneous presence of a reactive isobutene cation and reactive styrene monomer acting as a chain transfer agent, a situation which cannot be visualized in homopolymerization, was

Redox Intitiated Cationic Polymerization

Macromolecular Symposia, 2009
AbstractTwo novel redox initiator systems have been developed for carrying out the cationic polymerizations of vinyl and heterocyclic monomers. The initiators are based on various onium salts as the oxidant together with an alkylborane or an organosilane as the reducing agent.

Cationic polymerization of formaldehyde

Die Makromolekulare Chemie, 1968
AbstractCationic polymerization of monomeric formaldehyde has been studied at low temperature. It was found that high molecular weight polyoxymethylene with the reduced viscosity higher than 1.0 dl/g was readily obtained when the polymerization of formaldehyde was carried out in saturated hydrocarbons in the presence of LEWIS acids, BRÖNSTED acids, I2,

Cationic polymerization of caprolactam

European Polymer Journal, 1968
Abstract The theories on the cationic polymerization of caprolactam, at temperatures above the melting point of the polymer, are compared and discussed. The results of fractionations and molecular weight distributions, carried out on polymers prepared with caprolactam hydrochloride as initiator under anhydrous conditions, are used as the basis of the

Cationic polymerization of cyclocarbonates

Makromolekulare Chemie. Macromolecular Symposia, 1992
AbstractTrimethylenecarbonate (TMC) and neopentane diol carbonate (NPC) were polymerized with two groups of initiators, proton and carbenium ion donors or Lewis acids. Initiation with methyltriflate, triflic acid or triethyloxonium tetrafluoroborate in solution gave satisfactory yields (up to 90%) but only low molecular weights (Mn < 5000), due to ...

Cationic polymerization of glycidol

Doklady Chemistry, 2017
Polymerization of glycidyl alcohol induced by boron trifluoride tetrahydrofuran complex (BF3 ∙ THF) in ethylene glycol dimethyl ether (DME) and in the presence of BF3–water or BF3–glycerol catalyst system was studied. Under any of the conditions employed, the reaction gave water-soluble oligoether with polydispersity of ~1.1.
