Overview of Living Cationic Polymerization: Part 2. Living Cationic Polymerization of Vinyl Esters
The second installment of the three-part series of a special lecture for living cationic polymerization presents brief history of living polymerization of vinyl ethers. Recent progress in developing new initiating systems, especially base-assisting living systems, is highlighted after basic methodologies for living cationic polymerization is described.

Analyzing Electronic Excitations and Exciton Binding Energies in Y6 Films
The Y6 molecule is used for increasing the efficiency of organic solar cells. The exciton binding energy is calculated for ensembles of Y6 molecules that are representative of the typically used films. The calculations show that the excitons typically spread out over many molecules.

Cationic Gas-Permeable Mold Fabrication Using Sol–Gel Polymerization for Nano-Injection Molding
Cationic gas-permeable molds fabricated via sol–gel polymerization undergo cationic polymerization using epoxide, resulting in gas permeability owing to their cross-linked structures. By applying this cationic gas-permeable mold to nano-injection molding,

Cationic polymerization using mixed cationic photoinitiator systems
Photoinitiated cationic polymerization is useful wherever the lack of oxygen inhibition, low shrinkage and formation of polymers with good adhesion properties are essential. Rates and conversions for cationic polymerizations of epoxycyclohexylmethyl-epoxycyclohexane carboxylate (ECHC) with various cationic photoinitiators and their blends were compared.

The layer‐by‐layer (LbL) assembly of coordination solids, enabled by the surface‐mounted metal‐organic framework (SURMOF) platform, is on the cusp of generating the organic counterpart of the epitaxy of inorganics. The programmable and sequential SURMOF protocol, optimized by machine learning (ML), is suited for accessing high‐quality thin films of ...

Photocontrolled Stereoselective Cationic Polymerization
By virtue of noninvasive regulations by light, photocontrolled polymerizations have attracted considerable attention for the precision synthesis of macromolecules. However, a cationic polymerization with simultaneous photo-control and tacticity-regulation remains elusive and challenging to achieve.
