Caudal Epidural Anesthesia Reduces Blood Loss During Hypospadias Repair

Journal of Urology, 1989
We studied 24 boys who were randomized to receive caudal epidural anesthesia with 0.33 ml.kg.-1 0.25% bupivacaine either before (group A) or after (group B) Mathieu repair of distal hypospadias. The 2 groups did not differ in regard to age or weight, and all boys received a standardized anesthetic with halothane and nitrous oxide in oxygen ...

[Caudal epidural anesthesia in 70 children].

Dakar medical, 1996
Caudal loco regional anesthesia is a quite simple and secure procedure. That is a prospective study made on seventy children operated in orthopaedics, urology and general surgery below the ombilicus. The caudal epidural anesthesia followed a general anesthesia in all seventy cases and brought relief in terms of analgesia, even for those painful ...

[Prospects of the use of caudal epidural anesthesia].

Anesteziologiia i reanimatologiia, 1999
Caudal epidural anesthesia for interventions on the lower limbs and pelvic organs was used in 525 patients. A specific feature of the method is use of hypoosmolic local anesthetic solution (osmolality 260 mosmol/kg) containing lidocaine, 0.9% sodium chloride, and distilled water.

Spinal, Epidural, Caudal, and Combined Spinal/Epidural Anesthesia

Abstract This chapter highlights three different kinds of regional anesthesia—spinal, epidural, and caudal. Specific focus is on how each works, their individual indications and contraindications, and the physiological effects and complications to watch out for. The chapter also explores onset, duration, and action termination for spinal,

The Use of Continuous Epidural Combined with Continuous Caudal Anesthesia for Labor and Delivery

American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, 1956
Summary The method advocated by Cleland' for the use of continuous epidural and continuous caudal anesthesia for labor and delivery has been reviewed. The results of its use in 74 cases have been presented. Completely satisfactory anesthesia for labor and delivery was afforded 70 per cent of the patients.

Comparison of carbonated lidocaine and lidocaine hydrochloride for caudal epidural anesthesia in horses

American Journal of Veterinary Research, 1985
SUMMARY A double-blind comparison of carbonated lidocaine and lidocaine hydrochloride in caudal epidural anesthesia was performed in 8 horses. Among 5 horses with successfully paired bilateral caudal epidural blockades, no significant differences in onset time, duration, or sensory blockade were demonstrated.

[Caudal epidural anesthesia in children. Study of endocrine changes].

Presse medicale (Paris, France : 1983), 1985
Changes in serum levels of corticotrophin (ACTH), immunoreactive beta-endorphin, antidiuretic hormone and cortisol were compared in children undergoing minor surgery under either general anaesthesia with halothane or epidural anaesthesia by the caudal route.

[Utility of epidural catheterization by the caudal route in pediatric anesthesia].

Revista espanola de anestesiologia y reanimacion, 1994
To compare analgesic effect of bupivacaine during and after surgery when delivered through a lumbar epidural catheter entering by the caudal route with either caudal or lumbar administration of anesthetic through the needle. One hundred forty ASA I patients under 110 months undergoing infraumbilical surgery were studied.

[Caudal epidural anesthesia in pyloromyotomy in infants: our experience].

Cirugia pediatrica : organo oficial de la Sociedad Espanola de Cirugia Pediatrica, 2003
The aim of this work is to introduce an alternative to ordinary anaesthetic with tracheal intubation for the surgery of pyloric stenosis. We argue in favour of this alternative that it can be achieved with relative ease if the technique of caudal epidural is well known, a better control of peri and post-operative analgesia without the need of opiates ...
