Evaluation of cavitation erosion resistance of Al-Si casting alloys: effect of eutectic and intermetallic phases [PDF]

open access: yesFracture and Structural Integrity, 2018
In the present paper, the influence of eutectic and intermetallic phases on cavitation resistance of Al-Si alloys was studied. In fact, Al-Si alloys are commonly used for the production of components, such as cylinders, pistons, pumps, valves and ...

Characterization of Macro/Microstructure and Corrosion Resistance of Austenitic Gas Tungsten Arc Welding Cladding

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Cladding is a proven method that boosts the surface qualities of mechanical parts by applying a layer of more durable material over a base substrate. This work responds to the needs of offshore and pressure vessels sectors by focusing on cladding a super austenitic steel onto low‐carbon steel through gas tungsten arc welding.

Evaluation of Plasticity and Creep Parameters From Tensile Stress–Strain Data for a Range of Strain Rates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This plot compares experimental tensile stress–strain curves (with 4 different strain rates) and corresponding modelled curves (obtained using the optimised sets of Voce and Miller–Norton parameter values shown). The inferred M‐N values, characterizing the creep, are very similar to those obtained via conventional creep testing.

Covalent Organic Frameworks for Photocatalytic CO2 Reduction: Metal Integration Principles, Strategies and Functions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Covalent organic frameworks (COFs) with metals have been recognized as versatile platforms for photocatalytic CO2 reduction (CO2PRR). Herein, an overview of metal integration strategies for COFs is systematically summarized. Regulatory mechanisms and structure–activity relationships between metal integration and COF‐based CO2PRR are emphasized.

Trade-offs Between Water Transport Capacity and Drought Resistance in Neotropical Canopy Liana and Tree Species [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
In tropical forest canopies, it is critical for upper shoots to efficiently provide water to leaves for physiological function while safely preventing loss of hydraulic conductivity due to cavitation during periods of soil water deficit or high ...

Cavitation Erosion Resistance of Additively Manufactured Materials

open access: yesChemical Engineering & Technology, 2022
AbstractCavitation‐induced wear, also known as cavitation erosion, can be found in many fluid power components, especially in water hydraulics. Cavitation erosion leads to component damage and might even cause system failure. The resistance of various materials to cavitation erosion when using conventional manufacturing processes has already been ...
