The roles of CD36 in host defense and homeostasis (P3052)
Journal of Immunology, 2013The immune recognition of polysaccharide antigens is vital in both host defense against pathogens and general housekeeping functions in the body. CD36 is a Type-BI scavenger receptor expressed by multiple cell types including APCs and subsets of B ...

Abstract Adhesion of mature Plasmodium falciparum parasitized erythrocytes to microvascular endothelial cells or to placenta contributes directly to the virulence and severe pathology of P falciparum malaria. Whereas CD36 is the major endothelial receptor for microvasculature sequestration, infected erythrocytes adhering in the placenta ...

[CD36 Antigen Deficiency and Platelet Transfusion].
Zhongguo shi yan xue ye xue za zhi, 2016CD36 is a transmembrane glycoprotein, a multi-ligand receptor, possesses various biological functions. CD36 deficiency may stimulate the body to produce anti-CD36 alloimmune antibodies through the several pathways, such as blood transfusion, pregnancy or organ transplantation and so on, leading to the refractoriness of immune platelet transfusion and ...

[Expression of the OKM5 antigen (CD36) in normal keratinocytes and inflamed mucosa].
Immunitat und Infektion, 1994In 62 oral mucosa biopsies of different localization and diagnoses, immunohistochemically investigated with the APAAP technique, the OKM5 expression on keratinocytes was connected with the epithelial keratinization. In parakeratotic epithelia, an obvious CD36 upregulation was detectable.

Phenotypic and functional heterogeneity of endothelial cells (ECs) is being recognized with increasing frequency. Here we report a novel murine monoclonal antibody (MoAb), named 8C9, that detects a unique epitope on the leukocyte differentiation antigen CD36 (platelet glyco‐protein IV or Illb) expressed by both normal and neoplastic ECs.

Platelet antibodies can lead to clinical diseases such as platelet transfusion refractoriness (PTR), fetal/neonatal alloimmune thrombocytopenia (FNAIT), etc. This study is aimed at understanding CD36 expression, platelet alloantibody distribution in different populations in Northern China, and effects of platelet alloantibodies on pregnancy.Whole blood
