Early and Highly Suppressive ART are Main Factors Associated with Low Viral Reservoir in European Perinatally HIV Infected Children [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
BACKGROUND: Future strategies aiming to achieve HIV-1 remission are likely to target individuals with small reservoir size. SETTING: We retrospectively investigated factors associated with HIV-1 DNA levels in European, perinatally HIV-infected ...

CD4+ T-Lymphocyte Count/CD8+ T-Lymphocyte Count Ratio: Surrogate for HIV Infection in Infants? [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Tropical Pediatrics, 2012
Early diagnosis and treatment is necessary to prevent HIV-infected infants progressing to AIDS. Antibody testing is not confirmatory before the age of 18 months and PCR not widely available in resource-poor settings. We studied the accuracy of CD4(+) T-lymphocyte count, CD4% and CD4/CD8 ratio as surrogate markers of infant HIV infection. Two hundred and

Total Lymfosit Count (TLC) with CD4 in HIV/AIDS Patients at Kupang

open access: yesJurnal Teknologi Laboratorium, 2019
Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) is a retrovirus originating from the retroviridae family of the genus lentivirus that infects and damages cells that have a molecule Cluster of Differentiation 4 (CD4), especially T lymphocytes that have receptors with ...

Emerging technologies for point-of-care CD4 T-lymphocyte counting [PDF]

open access: yesTrends in Biotechnology, 2012
A CD4 T-lymphocyte count determines eligibility for antiretroviral therapy (ART) in patients recently diagnosed with HIV and also monitors the efficacy of ART treatment thereafter. ART slows the progression of HIV to AIDS. In the developing world, CD4 tests are often performed in centralized laboratories, typically in urban areas.

Kinetics of CD4+ T-Lymphocyte in Dengue Virus Infection

open access: yesMajalah Kedokteran Bandung, 2014
Cellular immunity plays an important role in viral infection. The activation of effector T-lymphocytes and the release of cytokines define the course of dengue viral infection. CD4⁺ T-lymphocyte induces the immunopathology via various mechanisms; however,

The Relationship of Total Lymphocyte Count to CD4 Lymphocyte Counts in Patients Infected with Human Immunodeficiency Virus

open access: yesThe American Journal of the Medical Sciences, 1992
A simple, inexpensive alternative to CD4 counts would facilitate the management of asymptomatic and early symptomatic patients with HIV infection. In this report, a high correlation was found between CD4 counts and total lymphocyte counts calculated from complete blood counts in a cohort of ambulatory HIV-infected patients.
