Differential requirements for IRF4 in the clonal expansion and homeostatic proliferation of naive and memory murine CD8+ T cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Interferon regulatory factor 4 (IRF4) has critical roles in immune cell differentiation and function and is indispensable for clonal expansion and effector function in T cells.

ZDHHC9‐Mediated Palmitoylation of ACSL4 Drives Ferroptosis in Diabetes Mellitus–Induced Erectile Dysfunction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Diabetes mellitus‐induced erectile dysfunction (DMED) is a highly prevalent complication among diabetic patients; however, its underlying pathogenic mechanisms remain incompletely understood. Metabolic disorder is a hallmark of diabetes, yet its precise contribution to DMED progression is not well defined.

De Novo generation of escape Variant-specific CD8+ T-Cell responses following Cytotoxic T-Lymphocyte escape in chronic Human Immunodeficiency Virus Type 1 Infection [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) evades CD8+ T-cell responses through mutations within targeted epitopes, but little is known regarding its ability to generate de novo CD8+ T-cell responses to such mutants.

Prognostic significance of CD8 and TCF1 double positive T cell subset in microsatellite unstable gastric cancer

open access: yesScientific Reports
Microsatellite instability-high (MSI-H) gastric cancer (GC) exhibits high tumor-infiltrating lymphocyte (TIL) density. Despite the recognized significance of the immune microenvironment in MSI-H GC, our understanding of TIL remains limited.

A 3D Human Bone and Bone Marrow‐on‐a‐Chip Model for In Vitro Bone Remodeling and Immune Cell Maintenance

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study presents a human Bone (and Bone Marrow)‐on‐a‐Chip model based on native human bone scaffolds and autologous cells. Dynamic perfusion and sequential cell seeding replicate the physiological bone remodeling process in vitro, enabling the long‐term culture of functional, mature bone marrow immune subpopulations.

Tracking the source of the hepatitis B virus-specific CD8 T cells during lamivudine treatment [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Lamivudine treatment in chronic hepatitis B leads to the reconstitution of virus-specific T cells in the circulation, but it is not clear whether this is the preferential result of T cell efflux from the liver or lymph nodes.

Constrained pattern of viral evolution in acute and early HCV infection limits viral plasticity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Cellular immune responses during acute Hepatitis C virus (HCV) and HIV infection are a known correlate of infection outcome. Viral adaptation to these responses via mutation(s) within CD8+ T-cell epitopes allows these viruses to subvert host immune ...

A Radioresistant‐Tumor‐Targeted Nanoparticle for X‐Ray‐Controlled Nitric Oxide Release to Potentiate Radiotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The PBTN targets GRP78 and, upon X‐ray irradiation, generates ONOO− to induce immunogenic cell death, thereby activating CD8+ T cells and establishing a systemic antitumor immune response. ABSTRACT Nitric oxide (NO) treated radioresistant tumors by relieving hypoxia and blocking DNA repair, but its nonselective toxicity has precluded therapeutic use ...

Characterisation of CD8neg and CD8+ human natural killer cell subsets [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
NK cells are CD3neg CD56+ lymphocytes that constitute about 10-15% of peripheral blood lymphocytes. They have an innate ability to recognise and kill virus infected cells and tumour cells.

CD4+ Tregs Drive Post‐Ischemic Sprouting Angiogenesis via Endothelial YY1/MAML1 Reactivation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Microvascular complications of diabetes are chronic diseases of small vessels. We previously found that CD4+ regulatory T‐cells (Tregs) are markedly reduced in type 2 diabetes (T2D) after ischemic injury in both mice and humans, and that Treg deficiency in immunodeficient mice impairs vascular regeneration.
