Efficient Adsorption Capacity of MgFe-Layered Double Hydroxide Loaded on Pomelo Peel Biochar for Cd (II) from Aqueous Solutions: Adsorption Behaviour and Mechanism

open access: yesMolecules, 2023
A novel pomelo peel biochar/MgFe-layered double hydroxide composite (PPBC/MgFe-LDH) was synthesised using a facile coprecipitation approach and applied to remove cadmium ions (Cd (II)).

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

Synthesis and Characterization of Zn(II) and Cd(II) Complexes with Bisdithiophosphonates

open access: yesRussian Journal of Coordination Chemistry, 2005
2,4-Bis(4-methoxyphenyl)-1,3,2,4-dithiodiphosphetane-2,4-disulfide (Lawesson’s reagent) reacts with stoichiometric equivalent of alkane diols HO(CH2)nOH (n=2, 3, and 5) to form bisdithiophosphonic acid. The obtained crude bisdithiophosphonic acids are treated with dry NH3 to give ammonium salts of bisdithiophosphonic acids.

SORPTION-DESORPTION MECHANISM OF Zn(II) AND Cd(II) ON CHITIN

open access: yesIndonesian Journal of Chemistry, 2010
This study reports the results of the elucidation of the sorption-desorption mechanism of Zn(II) and Cd(II) on chitin through the determination of capacity, energy, and rate constant of sorption as well as the investigation of their desorption properties

An unexpected alternative viologen electron mediator site in tungsten‐containing formate dehydrogenase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...

The adsorption of Cd(II) and Pb(II) to chitin in seawater [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Colloid and Interface Science, 1990
The adsorption of Cd2+ and Pb2+ to the surface of chitin has been studied in seawater as a function of pH (2 to 8), temperature (5 to 60°C), salinity (4 to 36), and the presence of other transition metals. The rates of adsorption were quite rapid () and were affected by the presence of other metals such as Cu2+.

Competitive Adsorption of Cd(II) and Zn(II) on Biochar, Loess, and Biochar-loess Mixture [PDF]

open access: yesNature Environment and Pollution Technology
Combined heavy metal contamination in soil is a common phenomenon. Biochar amendment into the soil is considered to be an alternative for immobilization remediation of soil contaminated with heavy metals due to its adsorption and alkalization.

Efficient performance of magnesium oxide loaded biochar for the significant removal of Pb2+ and Cd2+ from aqueous solution

open access: yesEcotoxicology and Environmental Safety, 2021
Lead (Pb) and cadmium (Cd) are considered as a typical heavy metals in aqueous solution, which may pose adverse health effects on human beings. For the removal of these two pollutants, magnesium oxide (MgO) was successfully immobilized onto eucalyptus ...

The role of miR‐335‐5p in the redifferentiation of BRAF p.V600E thyroid cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The BRAF p.V600E mutation promotes thyroid cancer dedifferentiation and radioiodine resistance. Using a network approach, we identified miR‐335‐5p as a key regulator of BRAF‐mutated thyroid tumors. Restoring miR‐335‐5p increased thyroid‐specific gene expression and iodine uptake in cells and organoids.
