Two-Photon Photochemistry of CdSe Quantum Dots
ACS Nano, 2015The two-photon photochemistry of CdSe quantum dots (QDs) has been systematically studied. We find that upon intense irradiation CdSe quantum dots that absorb two or more visible photons undergo photodarkening. The quantum yield for this process is on the order of 6% in chloroform and much smaller in nonpolar solvents, such as octane. An analysis of the

Midinfrared Electroluminescence from CdSe Quantum Dots
ACS NanoMidinfrared electroluminescence from the electron intraband transition is demonstrated with intrinsic CdSe colloidal quantum dots. The device consists of a thin film of CdSe dots and a layer of ZnO nanocrystals, sandwiched between two electrodes that enhance light outcoupling at 5 μm.

Switching-on Superparamagnetism in Mn/CdSe Quantum Dots
Journal of the American Chemical Society, 2006Mn ion doping of CdSe and other semimagnetic quantum dot (QDs) alloys has been an area of active speculation for over a decade. We report evidence of Mn(II) doping of CdSe grown from a cubic single source precursor that is superparamagnetic (SPM) with a blocking temperature of 40 K following thermal annealing.

Amphoteric CdSe nanocrystalline quantum dots
Nanotechnology, 2008The nanocrystal quantum dot (NQD) charge states strongly influence their electrical transport properties in photovoltaic and electroluminescent devices, optical gains in NQD lasers, and the stability of the dots in thin films. We report a unique electrostatic nature of CdSe NQDs, studied by electrophoretic methods.

The Effects of Chemisorption on the Luminescence of CdSe Quantum Dots
Langmuir, 2006We report on the effects of Lewis bases and other ligands on radiative recombination in CdSe quantum dots (QDs) in several solvents. Long-chain primary amines are found to be the most efficacious capping agents for CdSe QDs in nonpolar solvents. Primary alkylamines are superior to secondary and tertiary alkylamines.

Probing cytotoxicity of CdSe and CdSe/CdS quantum dots
Chinese Chemical Letters, 2011Abstract Toxicities of CdSe and CdSe/CdS quantum dots (QDs) synthesized by ultrasound-assisted methods were investigated in vitro and in vivo. Five human cell lines were used to assess the cytotoxicity of as-prepared CdSe and CdSe/CdS by assays of MTT viability, red blood cell hemolysis, flow cytometry, and fluorescence imaging. The results show that

Switching CdSe quantum dot luminescence with a-Si:H
Nanotechnology, 2013Dynamical control of the luminescence of quantum dots is highly important for technology in the field of telecommunication, displays, and photovoltaics. In this work we use an a-Si:H solar cell structure in which CdSe quantum dots are sandwiched.

Quantum Confinement Effects in CdSe Quantum Dots
The Journal of Physical Chemistry, 1995The energies of the lowest excited state of hexagonal and zinc-blende CdSe spherical quantum dots are calculated using empirical pseudopotentials of the bulk semiconductor. The lowest excited state energies computed for hexagonal clusters are in reasonable agreement with recent experiments. We predict that zinc-blende and hexagonal dots have nearly the

Thioglycerol-functionalized CdSe quantum dots detecting cadmium ions
, 2015Water-soluble CdSe quantum dots (QDs) were synthesized using thioglycerol (TG) as the surface capping agent through a one-step process at low temperature T (100 °C).

Hydrophilization of CdSe quantum dots with surfactants
Colloid Journal, 2013A procedure has been developed for hydrophilization of CdSe semiconductor quantum dots with anionic, cationic, and nonionic surfactants. Depending on the type of a surfactant, these particles may carry positive, negative, or no charges. In spite of the universality of the proposed procedure, the hydrophilization with specific surfactants must be ...
