Ant Fauna on Cecropia pachystachya Trécul (Urticaceae) Trees in an Atlantic Forest Area, Southeastern Brazil [PDF]

open access: yesSociobiology, 2013
Cecropia are pioneer successional trees frequently associated with ants. Generally a single dominant colony of Azteca ant inhabits each mature Cecropia tree, but other ant species may be found living or foraging on the same tree.

Brazilian embauba (Cecropia pachystachya) extract reduces renal lesions in 5/6 nephrectomized rats [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Renin-Angiotensin-Aldosterone System, 2014
Introduction: Cecropia pachystachya (CP) is a plant rich in polyphenols which inhibits the angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) in vitro. Angiotensin II (AII) has an important role in the renal lesion provoked by 5/6 nephrectomy (NE). This study evaluated the CP extract effect on renal lesions provoked by 5/6 NE.

HERANÇA E DESEQUILÍBRIO DE LIGAÇÃO EM SETE LOCOS ISOENZIMÁTICOS DE Cecropia pachystachya

open access: yesRevista do Instituto Florestal, 2004

Effects of different temperatures on the performance of seeds germination of Cecropia pachystachya Trec. (Cecropiaceae) [PDF]

open access: yesBrazilian Archives of Biology and Technology, 1999
Seed germination of Cecropia pachystachya Trec. was investigated at 25, 30, and 35ºC using fluorescent day lights. Ten replicates each of 200 seeds were used in each thermal treatment.

Cecropia pachystachya: a species with expressive in vivo topical anti-inflammatory and in vitro antioxidant effects. [PDF]

open access: yesBiomed Res Int, 2014
Cecropia pachystachya is a species traditionally used in Brazil to treat inflammation. This work aims to evaluate the topical anti‐inflammatory and antioxidant activities of the methanolic extract of C. pachystachya (CPM) and to perform its chemical fingerprint by HPLC‐DAD.
