The role of forests undergoing restoration in mitigating climate change is widely accepted. However, periodic assessment of aboveground biomass (AGB) accumulation in actively restored areas is scarce, particularly in tropical forests. Here, we estimated AGB as an indicator of carbon stocks in six Atlantic Forest native species reforestations aged 4–20 ...

Advances in the Preclinical Study of Some Flavonoids as Potential Antidepressant Agents
Flavonoids are phenolic compounds found commonly in plants that protect them against the negative effects of environmental insults. These secondary metabolites have been widely studied in preclinical research because of their biological effects, particularly as antioxidant agents.

ABSTRACT Frequent and intensive tillage in conventional agriculture disrupts soil aggregates, engendering significant depletion of soil organic carbon (SOC) stocks. Long‐term studies are essential for assessing the impact of sustainable practices on aggregate dynamics and carbon sequestration in sugarcane monocropping in tropical ecosystems.

We evaluate the impact of very small and isolated forest fragments on the common marmosets home range, diet, and activity patterns, in the northeastern Atlantic Forest of Brazil. Three groups were studied in three forest fragments, from January to October 2010, totaling 360 hours of observations and 1,080 field‐hours.

Preserved forests of Ocotea porosa exhibited improved soil functionality with higher levels of soil organic matter (6.56%), exchangeable cations (e.g., Ca2+ at 3.87 cmolc kg−1), and enhanced physical properties, such as soil aggregation, than degraded forests in the Atlantic Forest biome.
