Antibiotic Prescribing for Cellulitis in the Absence of Penicillin-Cephalosporin Cross-Reactivity Alerts: A Retrospective Study. [PDF]

open access: yesPharmacol Res Perspect
ABSTRACT Cephalosporins are often avoided in patients with penicillin adverse drug reaction (ADR) labels. In our institution's electronic medication management system, penicillin and cephalosporin ADR labels do not generate cross‐reactivity alerts. Penicillins and cephalosporins are preferred treatments for cellulitis.

Evaluating Effects of Antibiotics Across Preclinical Models of the Human Gastrointestinal Microbiota. [PDF]

open access: yesMicrobiologyopen
We compared microbiota changes following antibiotic treatment in two preclinical models of the human GI microbiota, minibioreactor arrays (MBRAs) and human microbiota associated mice (HMAmice). MBRAs and HMAmice were colonized with feces from 12 or 3 healthy humans, respectively, before treatment with each of 12 or 6 antibiotics.

Spectrophotometric determination of cefaclor in pharmaceutical preparations

open access: yesQuímica Nova, 1999
A simple spectrophotometric method is proposed for the determination of cefaclor. The method involves alkaline hydrolysis of the drug in ammonia buffer solution at pH 10 to yield diketopiperazine-2,5-dione derivative and subsequent measurement at 340 nm.
