Classes of Cell-Penetrating Peptides
2015During the three decades of cell-penetrating peptides era the superfamily of CPPs has rapidly expanded, and the quest for new sequences continues. CPPs have been well recognized by scientific community and they have been used for transduction of a wide variety of molecules and particles into cultured cells and in vivo.

The Pharmacokinetics of Cell-Penetrating Peptides
Molecular Pharmaceutics, 2010Cell-penetrating peptides (CPPs) are able to penetrate the cell membrane carrying cargoes such as peptides, proteins, oligonucleotides, siRNAs, radioisotopes, liposomes, and nanoparticles. Consequently, many delivery approaches have been developed to use CPPs as tools for drug delivery.

Cell-penetrating Peptide-mediated Nanovaccine Delivery
Current Drug Targets, 2021Vaccination with small antigens, such as proteins, peptides, or nucleic acids, is used to activate the immune system and trigger the protective immune responses against a pathogen. Currently, nanovaccines are undergoing development instead of conventional vaccines.

pH-responsive PepFect cell-penetrating peptides
International Journal of Pharmaceutics, 2016A series of cell-penetrating PepFect peptide analogues was developed by substitutions of the galanin-derived N-terminal sequence. Histidine modifications were incorporated in order to make the peptides pH-responsive. The peptides were all able to form non-covalent complexes with an oligonucleotide cargo by co-incubation in buffer.

Proline-rich, amphipathic cell-penetrating peptides
Advanced Drug Delivery Reviews, 2008Proline-rich peptides are a chemically and structurally diverse family of cell-penetrating vectors characterised by the presence of pyrrolidine rings from prolines. Amphipathic Pro-rich peptides are particularly effective, demonstrating efficient cellular uptake and non-cytotoxicity.

Cell Penetrating Peptides for Tumor Targeting
Current Pharmaceutical Biotechnology, 2011Anticancer drug delivery has been hindered due to cell membrane permeability and the lack of a selective marker for tumor cells. Cell permeability is related to the bioavailability of drugs and has therefore been considered to be an essential step for achieving therapeutic efficacy.

Cell Penetrating Peptides in Drug Delivery
Pharmaceutical Research, 2004Protein transduction domains (PTDs) are small cationic peptides that can facilitate the uptake of large, biologically active molecules into mammalian cells. Recent reports have suggested that PTDs may be able to mediate the delivery of cargo to tissues throughout a living organism.
