Development of input connections in neural cultures [PDF]
We introduce a novel approach for the quantitative assessment of the connectivity in neuronal cultures, based on the statistical mechanics of percolation on a graph. This allows us to follow the development of the culture and see the emergence of connectivity in the network. The culture becomes fully connected at a time equivalent to full term.

Systematic optimization of human pluripotent stem cells media using Design of Experiments. [PDF]
Human pluripotent stem cells (hPSC) are used to study the early stages of human development in vitro and, increasingly due to somatic cell reprogramming, cellular and molecular mechanisms of disease.

Hermansky‐Pudlak syndrome type 1 (HPS‐1) is a rare, autosomal recessive disorder with poorly understood renal involvement. Urinary extracellular vesicle (uEV) proteomics and a novel Hps1 mouse model reveal mitochondrial abnormalities and lipid accumulation in HPS‐1 kidney proximal tubule cells. Serum ApoA1 correlates with kidney function in our patient

The vascular endothelium plays a pivotal role in the maintenance of vascular homeostasis, mediated by vasoactive molecules produced by endothelial cells. The balance between vasoconstrictor and vasodilator biomolecules is what guarantees this equilibrium.

Phytochemical Study of Cell Culture Jatropha Curcas [PDF]
Jatropha curcas belongs to the Euphorbiaceae family which has potential economically. This plant has been reported to contain toxic compounds such as curcin and phorbol ester and its derivatives. These compounds may become a problem if J.

We describe a novel set of Epac‐based FRET‐FLIM biosensors with improved fully cytosolic distribution, achieved without compromising the state‐of‐the‐art performance of our original designs, for detecting cAMP dynamics in real time in live cells with high precision and reliability.

CARS and SHG microscopy to follow the collagen production in living human corneal fibroblasts and mesenchymal stem cells in fibrin gel 3D cultures [PDF]
Coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering (CARS) microscopy is combined with second harmonic generation (SHG) technique in order to follow the early stage of stem cell differentiation within a 3D scaffold. CARS microscopy can detect lipid membranes and droplet compartments in living cells and SHG microscopy enables a strong imaging contrast for molecules ...

The mitochondrial outer membrane iron–sulphur ([Fe‐S]) protein mitoNEET is a target of the type‐2 diabetes drug pioglitazone. Its unknown molecular function is linked to respiratory complex activity and mitochondrial function. We discovered that O2 protects the mitoNEET [2Fe‐2S] cluster against NO oxidation and desensitization towards reduction by H2S.
