Atmosphere Behavior in Gas-Closed Mouse-Algal Systems: An Experimental and Modelling Study [PDF]

open access: yes, 1985
A dual approach of mathematical modelling and laboratory experimentation aimed at examining the gas exchange characteristics of artificial animal/plant systems closed to the ambient atmosphere was initiated.

Two‐way inhibition of PAX5 transcriptional activity by PAX5::CBFA2T3

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
PAX5::CBFA2T3 (PAX5‐C) is a fusion protein of the B‐cell transcription factor, PAX5, and is found in B‐cell ALL. We propose a putative model of two‐way inhibition of PAX5 transcriptional activity by PAX5‐C. There are two ways of repression by PAX5‐C: DNA‐binding‐dependent way and HDAC‐dependent way, with either being sufficient for the repression. HDAC

Prevention and Detection of Mycoplasma Contamination in Cell Culture [PDF]

open access: yesCell Journal, 2012
One of the main problems in cell culture is mycoplasma infection. It can extensively affectcell physiology and metabolism. As the applications of cell culture increase in research, industrial production and cell therapy, more concerns about mycoplasma ...

An in vitro assay for neural crest cell migration through the somites [PDF]

open access: yes, 1986
Neural crest cells in the trunk of the avian embryo come into contact with the somites and neural tube during the course of their migration. However, the relationship between the somites and the early migratory routes followed by these cells is not yet ...

Blocking the voltage‐gated sodium channel hNav1.5 as a novel pH‐dependent mechanism of action for tamoxifen

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Patch‐clamp recordings revealed that tamoxifen inhibits voltage‐gated sodium channels, especially under acidic conditions, both common in metastatic cancer cells. These effects may explain certain antitumor properties of tamoxifen, highlighting a novel mechanism of action beyond its known endocrine effects.

Embryo metabolism : what does it really mean? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The study of early embryo metabolism has fascinated researchers in the field for nearly a century. Herein, we give a brief account of the general features of embryo metabolism and some consideration of the research performed to reach such conclusions. It

Phosphomimetic mutations near active sites of proteins in Thermus thermophilus suggest a widespread regulatory mechanism

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In Thermus thermophilus, more than half of the phosphorylation sites identified by proteomic analysis are located near the active site. All phosphomimetic mutants of phosphosites of six enzymes belonging to different families showed severely reduced activity compared with the wild‐type, particularly in the turnover number.
