Proliferation: the Cell Cycle

2003
Normal cells possess mechanisms that protect them from the action of oncogenes. Thus, normal primary cells are not affected by neoplastic transformations, whereas the majority of immortal cells used in laboratory cultures have acquired mutations during the immortalization process and are susceptible to being transformed.

Cell cycle and cancer.

La Clinica terapeutica, 1999
To evaluate the link between cell cycle dysfunctions and tumor formation.A review of the cell cycle mechanism and its regulatory factors which are involved in carcinogenesis.Cell duplication is directed by a precise cellular machine. The engine of this machine is composed of the cyclin-dependent kinases (Cdks).

The Cell Cycle

1998
The cell cycle consists of a set of highly ordered events that result in the duplication and division of a cell. This process requires the synthesis of a new copy of DNA, segregation of chromosomes, mitosis, and apportionment of the cellular contents.

The Cell Cycle

2009
Considered here is the cell cycle, which is driven by mitogen growth factors and dampened by cytokine TGFb. Surface integrins help cell proliferation and, of course, c-Myc oncogene. How cell cycle arrest or apoptosis are achieved is to be appreciated. One can consider the proliferation of T lymphocytes, and one will have tumors in mind.

Cancer Cell Cycles

Science, 1996
Uncontrolled cell proliferation is the hallmark of cancer, and tumor cells have typically acquired damage to genes that directly regulate their cell cycles. Genetic alterations affecting p16 INK4a and cyclin D1, proteins that govern phosphorylation of the retinoblastoma protein (RB) and ...
