Immunomagnetic Cell Separation
2003In metastasis research, it may sometimes be necessary to separate populations of tumor cells from a mixed cell population such as a tumor, peripheral blood, or bone marrow. In addition, the normal counterparts of populations of tumor cells can be separated to allow direct comparisons to be made (1).In recent years magnetic bead separation techniques ...

Cell Stem Cell, 2021
How master regulators such as Oct4 can shape 3D genome architecture during cell reprogramming remains poorly understood. In this issue of Cell Stem Cell, Wang et al. (2021) demonstrate that Oct4 undergoes phase separation to reconfigure TAD architecture for cell fate control.

Microelectrofluidic probe for sequential cell separation and patterning.
Lab on a Chip, 2019Cell separation and patterning are of interest to several biological and medical applications including rare cell isolation and co-culture models. Numerous microfluidic devices have been used for cell separation and patterning, however, the typical ...

Synaptosomes and cell separation
Neuroscience, 1976Publisher Summary When fractionating a complex tissue like brain, experiments should begin by separating it into its constituent cell classes. Any subcellular fraction prepared from brain is intrinsically heterogeneous as it is derived from several cell types.

Biophysics of cell separations
Quarterly Reviews of Biophysics, 1975To the Chemist, it has long been second nature to work with separate, purified substances. Biochemists and molecular biologists have now largely achieved the same working position, with their powerful separation techniques of ultracentrifugation, electrophoresis, chromatography and the like.

This review summarizes currently available techniques for cell separation. Techniques that exploit differences in physical properties of cells are widely used but have a number of limitations. Those that are based on differences in surface properties may more readily permit reproducible separation of a functionally homogeneous population of cells ...

[Stem cell separation with different cell separators].
Beitrage zur Infusionstherapie = Contributions to infusion therapy, 1992For some years, there has been an increasing success in transplanting peripheral blood stem cells (PBSC) instead of autologous bone marrow in patients suffering from different malignancies. While collecting PBSC for autologous transplantation, we compared four different separation techniques and three different cell separators (COBE Spectra, Fresenius ...

Abstract The involvement of cellulase (endo-b-l,4-glucanase, EC 3.2.1.4) in a number of different cell separation events which occur in higher plants has been well established. Besides their significance for the plant growth and differentiation, these events can be economically important since they also comprise softening of fleshy fruits and ...

Microfluidics for cell separation
Medical & Biological Engineering & Computing, 2010The need for efficient cell separation, an essential preparatory step in many biological and medical assays, has led to the recent development of numerous microscale separation techniques. This review describes the current state-of-the-art in microfluidics-based cell separation techniques.

A separability parameter for dielectrophoretic cell separation
ELECTROPHORESIS, 2013In this study, a separability parameter is introduced to determine the selection of optimum operating parameters for DEP separation of a cell pair. The separability parameter is defined as a function of cells’ Clausius–Mossotti (CM) factors. T‐cell leukemia Jurkat and mouse melanoma B16 cells are tested to validate the separability parameter.
