Biophysical limits of ultrafast cellular motility
AbstractMany single-celled organisms and specialized cell types can surprisingly achieve speed and acceleration significantly faster than multicellular counterparts. These remarkable cellular machines must integrate energy storage and amplification in actuation, latches for triggered release, and energy dissipation without failure — all implemented in ...

We characterized the distribution of cargo proteins associated with extracellular vesicles using various exogenous loading methods. In all cases, single‐particle analysis revealed that the distribution of protein content per EV is heterogeneous, following an exponential decay function.

Coagulative granular hydrogels are composed of packed thrombin‐functionalized microgels that catalyze the conversion of fibrinogen into a secondary fibrin network, filling the interstitial voids. This bio‐inspired approach stabilizes the biomaterial to match the robustness of bulk hydrogels without compromising injectability, mimicking the initial ...

Patient‐specific induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) can be differentiated into alveolar type II cells (iAT2s), expanded as 3D alveolospheres, and grown at physiologically relevant air–liquid interface (ALI). This study shows for the first time the infectability of iAT2s by the influenza A virus (IAV) and proves their responsiveness to the well ...

Mechanical and Electrical Phenotype of hiPSC‐Cardiomyocytes on Fibronectin‐Based Hydrogels
We introduce fibronectin‐based PEG hydrogels with controlled rigidity to enable the culture of iPSC‐derived cardiomyocytes. These substrates offer an alternative to the current culture of these cells on fibronectin‐coated glass, providing enhanced structural and functional behavior. The system provides a more physiologically relevant platform to assess

DYNAMICAL FEEDBACK MODELS IN CELLULAR BIOPHYSICS
In the present PhD thesis we collected two distinct contributions to the field of mathematical modelling of complex biological phenomena (at the cellular and subcellular level), with the tools of differential equations and spatial stochastic simulations.

Geometrically Tunable Scaffold‐Free Muscle Bioconstructs for Treating Volumetric Muscle Loss
Volumetric muscle loss is associated with traumatic muscle resulting in permanent functional impairment. Mold‐based, scaffold‐free, high‐density muscle tissue bioconstructs are developed in customizable geometric shapes and sizes. The transplanted rectangular solid‐shaped muscle bioconstructs improved muscle force recovery and tissue regeneration in ...
