Initiator-free photo-crosslinkable cellulose-based resists for fabricating submicron patterns via direct laser writing [PDF]
Novel bifunctional cellulose diacetate derivatives were synthesized in order to achieve bio-based photoresists, which can be structured by two-photon absorption via direct laser writing (DLW) without the need to use a photoinitiator. Therefore, cellulose diacetate is functionalized with thiol moieties and olefinic or methacrylic side groups enabling ...

Cellulose micro/nano-fibers can be produced by electrospinning from liquid crystalline solutions. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), as well as atomic force microscopy (AFM) and polarizing optical microscopy (POM) measurements showed that cellulose-based electrospun fibers can curl and twist, due to the presence of an off-core line defect disclination,

Electronic Band Structures of Pristine and Chemically Modified Cellulose Allomorphs [PDF]
We have investigated the structural properties, vibrational spectra, and electronic band structures of crystalline cellulose allomorphs and chemically modified cellulose with quantum chemical methods. The electronic band gaps of cellulose allomorphs I$_\alpha$, I$_\beta$, II, and III$_1$ lie in the range of 5.0 to 5.6 eV.

Dispersion of Boron Nitride Powders in Aqueous Suspensions with Cellulose [PDF]
The dispersion of nitride and carbide ceramic particles in water is difficult, due to the absence of hydroxyl groups on their surface. Boron nitride is not an exception and despite its numerous applications, no effective dispersant has been identified so far. We demonstrate here the dispersion properties of two cellulose derivatives for hexagonal boron

A thermodynamic investigation of the cellulose allomorphs: Cellulose(am), cellulose Iβ(cr), cellulose II(cr), and cellulose III(cr) [PDF]
The thermochemistry of samples of amorphous cellulose, cellulose I, cellulose II, and cellulose III was studied by using oxygen bomb calorimetry, solution calorimetry in which the solvent was cadoxen (a cadmium ethylenediamine solvent), and with a Physical Property Measurement System (PPMS) in zero magnetic field to measure standard massic heat ...

Lithium atom storage in nanoporous cellulose via surface induced $\rm Li_2$ breakage [PDF]
We demonstrate a physical mechanism that enhances a splitting of diatomic $\rm Li_2$ at cellulose surfaces. The origin of this splitting is a possible surface induced diatomic excited state resonance repulsion. The atomic Li is then free to form either physical or chemical bonds with the cellulose surface and even diffuse into the cellulose layer ...

Molecular simulation of surface reorganization and wetting in crystalline cellulose I and II [PDF]
Cellulose is one of the most versatile substances in the world. Its immense variety of applications was in recent years complemented by interesting nanotechnological applications. The fabrication of complex cellulose-based materials asks for thorough understanding of the surface structure and its interactions with adsorbates.
