Reciprocal Recurrent Selection between Synthetic Multi Species Populations (RRSSMSP) of Eucalypt Seleção Recorrente Recíproca entre Populações Sintéticas Multi- Espécies (SRR-PSME) de Eucalipto

open access: yesPesquisa Florestal Brasileira, 2010
It is proposed a breeding strategy for eucalypt, which congregates in an individual desirable traits belonging to different species and capture the heterosis for growth, stemming from several pair of species of known heterotic behavior.

The Landless Rural Workers Movement (MST) and New Agrarian Questions in Brazil

open access: yesJournal of Agrarian Change, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The Landless Rural Workers Movement of Brazil (MST) primarily organized occupations of large‐scale farms, forcing the redistribution of land for creation of agrarian reform settlements. In the past 20 years, however, land occupations and the establishment of new agrarian reform settlements have consistently declined, while the MST shifted ...

Hyperspectral wavelength selection for weed discrimination in Eucalyptus saligna using machine learning

open access: yesAgronomy Journal, Volume 118, Issue 4, July/August 2026.
Abstract Efficient weed management in commercial forestry requires reliable methods for distinguishing crop seedlings from competing vegetation during early plantation establishment. This study aimed to identify spectral wavelength ranges suitable for discriminating weeds from Eucalyptus saligna in young forest plantations.

Diet composition of the Red‐billed curassow (Crax blumenbachii) and its role as seed disperser in the Atlantic Forest: conservation insights

open access: yesRestoration Ecology, Volume 34, Issue 5, July 2026.
Abstract Introduction Forest fragmentation and defaunation are major drivers of biodiversity loss in the Atlantic Forest of Brazil, where 70–90% of tree species depend on animal‐mediated seed dispersal. Reintroduction of large frugivores, such as cracids, is being used to restore species populations and lost ecological functions.

Multifactorial Screening for Fine‐Scale Selection of CCS Industrial Clusters and Hubs in Brazil

open access: yesGreenhouse Gases: Science and Technology, Volume 16, Issue 3, Page 364-395, June 2026.
ABSTRACT As Brazil moves toward implementing its decarbonization commitments, carbon capture and storage (CCS) hubs are emerging as a key pathway for large‐scale CO2 abatement in hard‐to‐abate sectors. This paper presents a multifactorial, data‐driven framework to screen and prioritize potential CCS industrial clusters and hubs across Brazilian regions,

Generalist With a Narrow Niche Breadth: Feeding Ecology and Seed Germination Effectiveness of a Large Canid Within a Silvicultural Matrix

open access: yesAustral Ecology, Volume 51, Issue 6, June 2026.
Diet: The generalist canid exhibits a narrow niche breadth (0.12), consuming native plants (100% frequency) and animals (85%). Birds dominate animal prey (74%), peaking in the dry season, while Solanaceae plants dominate plant food (100%), peaking in the rainy season.
