New Lobane and Cembrane Diterpenes from Two Comorian Soft Corals
Preliminary biological investigation of a collection of Comorian soft corals resulted in the selection of two specimens, one of Sarcophyton and the other of Lobophytum, on the basis of their toxicity on larvae of the brine shrimp (Artemia salina) and ...

New Cembranoid Diterpenes from the Cultured Octocoral Nephthea columnaris
Two new 15-hydroxycembranoid diterpenes, 2β-hydroxy-7β,8α-epoxynephthenol (1) and 2β-hydroxy-11α,12β-epoxynephthenol (2), were isolated from extracts of the octocoral Nephthea columnaris along with a new natural cembrane, epoxynephthenol (3) and a known ...

A Great Barrier Reef Sinularia sp. Yields Two New Cytotoxic Diterpenes
The methanol extract of a Sinularia sp., collected from Bowden Reef, Queensland, Australia, yielded ten natural products. These included the new nitrogenous diterpene (4R*,5R*,9S<

SUMMARY Serrulatane diterpenoids are natural products found in plants from a subset of genera within the figwort family (Scrophulariaceae). Many of these compounds have been characterized as having anti‐microbial properties and share a common diterpene backbone.

An Unexpected Transannular [4+2] Cycloaddition during the Total Synthesis of (+)‐Norcembrene 5
They may look alike… During studies toward the total synthesis of the norditerpene natural product norcembrene 5, one diastereomer of a key intermediate (α‐OAc at C13) underwent clean and spontaneous Diels–Alder cycloaddition at room temperature (see scheme).

EBC‐342: A Novel Tetrahydrofuran Moiety Containing Casbane from the Australian Rainforest
Although well known, the casbane family of natural products are not often isolated from either terrestrial or marine environments. The Australian Rainforest plant Croton insularis has provided a number of interesting casbanes, of which EBC‐342 described herein, is the first to contain a tetrahydrofuran ring.

Terpenoids from the Octocorals Menella sp. (Plexauridae) and Lobophytum crassum (Alcyonacea)
A new germacrane-type sesquiterpenoid, menelloide E (1), and a new cembrane-type diterpenoid, lobocrassin F (2), were isolated from the octocorals Menella sp. and Lobophytum crassum, respectively.
