Central Line–Associated Bloodstream Infection in Neonatal Intensive Care Units [PDF]
Objective.Describe the epidemiology of central line-associated bloodstream infections (CLABSIs) in neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) participating in a standardized and mandatory CLABSI surveillance program.Design.Retrospective cohort.Setting.We included patients admitted (April 2007-March 2011) to 7 level II/III NICUs who developed a CLABSI (as ...

Astrocyte‐specific SHP1 deletion disrupts astrocyte–vascular interactions and compromises BBB integrity while enhancing STAT1‐dependent CXCL10 expression. These changes synergistically promote peripheral CD4+ and CD8+ T‐cell infiltration into the SDH. The infiltrating T cells secrete IFN‐γ, which in turn activates microglia.

Microbiome signatures in neonatal central line associated bloodstream infections
Neonates are at high risk for central line associated bloodstream infections (CLABSI). Biofilm formation is universal on indwelling catheters but why some biofilms seed the bloodstream to cause CLABSI is not clearly understood. With the objective to test the hypothesis that catheter biofilm microbiome in neonates with CLABSI differs than those without ...

BACKGROUNDPeripherally inserted central catheters (PICCs) are associated with central-line–associated bloodstream infections (CLABSIs). However, no tools to predict risk of PICC-CLABSI have been developed.OBJECTIVETo operationalize or prioritize CLABSI ...

Chronic stress drives autophagy‐mediated β2‐AR degradation, impairing antiviral immunity and promoting poxvirus lethality. Lycorine directly stabilizes β2‐AR to restore host defense, suppress excessive inflammation and improve survival. ABSTRACT Psychological stress is a pervasive yet poorly understood modulator of infectious disease outcomes. Here, we

Using interprofessional collaboration to reduce reported rates of central-line-associated bloodstream infection in an intensive care setting. [PDF]
Using a multicomponent approach that included blood-culture stewardship, evaluation for secondary sources of bloodstream infection, improved documentation, and prompt central-line removal, an interprofessional team improved patient care and reduced ...

Artificial Intelligence‐Empowered Single‐Cell Phenotyping for Rapid, Automated Pathogen Diagnostics
This work presents an integrated diagnostic platform that combines microfluidic single‐cell bacterial detection with artificial intelligence‐driven analysis for rapid antimicrobial susceptibility testing. Single‐cell phenotyping enables assessment of antibiotic response in only a few cell replication cycles, while AI analysis supports precise bacterial
