Progress Toward a Portable Artificial Lung: A Systematic Review

open access: yesArtificial Organs, EarlyView.
Eight portable respiratory assist devices were identified. The CE‐marked MobyBox and the FDA‐approved Breethe OXY‐1 system are in clinical use. Each device is substantially minimized to allow ambulation, but further work is required to address challenges related to anticoagulant management and safe mobilization. Created in BioRender. Multiscale Modeling of a Geometrically Tunable Shunt for Growing Pediatric Patients With Single Ventricle Physiology

open access: yesArtificial Organs, EarlyView.
Here we investigated the development of a geometrically tunable blood for patients with single ventricle physiology. Two multiscale cardiovascular models were customized and implemented at timepoints spanning across the beginning and end of the shunt‐use period.

Heart Donation After Controlled Circulatory Death in Noncardiac Surgery Hospitals With a Mobile Heart Team: A Case Series From an Italian Regional Program and Integrated Review of the Literature

open access: yesArtificial Organs, EarlyView.
In this series of 19 DCD donors using TA‐NRP, 89.5% of hearts were successfully transplanted with no PGD, no postoperative ECMO, and no 30‐day mortality, demonstrating the feasibility and safety of this approach. ABSTRACT Controlled donation after circulatory death (cDCD) with thoracoabdominal normothermic regional perfusion (TA‐NRP) has emerged ...

A Specific tRNA Half, 3'tiRNA‐GlyGCC, Regulates Hypoxic Pulmonary Artery Smooth Muscle Cell Proliferation via Myrf‐Mediated Endoplasmic Reticulum Stress

open access: yesCell Proliferation, EarlyView.
A schematic diagram illustrating how 3′tiRNA‐GlyGCC promotes the endoplasmic reticulum stress (ERS) and proliferation in hypoxic pulmonary artery smooth muscle cells (PASMCs) by inhibiting the expression of myelin regulatory factor (Myrf), ultimately leading to pulmonary hypertension (PH).

Utility of the SWAM (Separator With Aspirator for Mechanical Thrombectomy) Device in Managing Hemodialysis Access Thrombosis

open access: yesHemodialysis International, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Hemodialysis access thrombosis is the primary cause of access failure. Thrombus removal is an effective strategy to restore access function. Although both open surgical and endovascular procedures enable thrombus clearance, endovascular thrombus reduction therapy is widely adopted in clinical practice for this condition due to its ...
