Density gradient centrifugation studies of vesicular stomatitis virus

Archiv fr die gesamte Virusforschung, 1965
Equilibrium sedimentation in caesium chloride has been used to separate and study the biologically active components of vesicular stomatitis virus (Indiana) grown in baby hamster kidney cells and chick embryos. Infective egg fluid was shown to contain two infective components of densities 1.191 g/ml. and 1.217 g/ml.

An improved gradient-making device for density gradient centrifugation

Analytical Biochemistry, 1965
Abstract An improved gradient-making device for sucrose density gradient centrifugation is described. The device can be easily constructed with a minimum of glassblowing skill. An alternate mode of operation is presented which allows the production of a linear sucrose density gradient even from a poorly constructed device.

Preparation of polyallomer centrifuge tubes for density gradients

Analytical Biochemistry, 1969
Abstract Thin-walled polyallomer centrifuge tubes can easily be prepared to accept linear sucrose gradients, as delivered by conventional gradient formers. They can thus be used with the same facility and achieve the same resolution as cellulose nitrate tubes, for preparative and analytical density gradient centrifugation.

Rapid density gradient centrifugation using Short Column Techniques

Analytical Biochemistry, 1978
Abstract The Short Column Technique is a useful technique for rate zonal and isopycnic density gradient runs with both the swinging bucket and fixed angle rotors, We have described and illustrated its advantages of significant time saving and the elimination of the need for tube caps. Thick-walled polycarbonate tubes are used.
