At hatching, the digestive tract is straight and composed by a cubic cell layer.

Journal of Experimental Zoology Part A: Comparative Experimental Biology, 2006The ontogeny of suction feeding performance, as measured by peak suction generating capacity, was studied in the common snook, Centropomus undecimalis. Suction pressure inside the buccal cavity is a function of the total expansive force exerted on the buccal cavity distributed across the projected area of the buccal cavity.

Diseases of Aquatic Organisms, 2019To examine the pathogenicity of Vibrio strains, several doses of Vibrio harveyi (CAIM 1622 and CAIM 1508), Vibrio ponticus (CAIM 1751) and Vibrio anguillarum (CAIM 8) were used to challenge Pacific white snook Centropomus viridis Lockington, 1877 juveniles, and survival, gross signs and histological lesions were observed.
