Preparation of ZrO2-CeO2 and HfO2-CeO2 nanopowders

Inorganic Materials, 2006
We prepared weakly agglomerated powders of ZrO2-CeO2 and HfO2-CeO2 solid solutions 5–8 nm in particle size, consisting of monoclinic and tetragonal phases. After heat treatment at 1200°C, the crystallite size was 30 and 14 nm, respectively. We also examined the effect of precipitate freeze drying on the crystallization of hafnia-based solid solutions ...

Reduction of nitrates by dihydrogen in CeO2 and Rh/CeO2 catalysts

Applied Catalysis A: General, 1992
Abstract Series of NO 3 − /CeO 2 and Rh/NO 3 − /CeO 2 catalyst with variable loadings of nitrate (0-1.5 wt.-%) and of rhodium (0-0.2 wt.-%) were prepared by impregnation of a cerium oxide (19 m 2 g −1 ) with aqueous solutions of sodium nitrate and of rhodium nitrate. The catalysts were dried at 120 ° C and characterized by temperature-programmed

The CO2–CeO2 interaction and its role in the CeO2 reactivity

Catalysis Letters, 1998
The interaction between CO2 and CeO2 and its role in the surface reactivity of alumina-supported cerium oxide has been studied by programmed thermodesorption (TPD) of CO2 and FTIR spectroscopy. The performance of Ce/Al2O3 systems was then analyzed for the propane oxidation in presence of CO2. The results have shown that the catalytic activity decreased

Optical and electrochemical properties of CeO2 and CeO2TiO2 coatings

Solar Energy Materials and Solar Cells, 1993
Abstract Thin solid films of CeO2 and mixed CeO2TiO2 were prepared by the sol-gel route via the dip-coating technique. Particulate sols of ceria were made from inorganic ((NH4)2Ce(NO3)6) precursor which were used for preparation of CeO2 thin solid films while CeO2TiO2 coatings have been made by using mixed organic-inorganic (Ti(OiPr)4 and CeCl3 ...

Surface structure and catalytic properties of MoO3/CeO2 and CuO/MoO3/CeO2

Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, 2011
XRD, LRS, TPR and in situ NH(3) adsorption FT-IR were used to investigate the dispersion state of the copper oxide and molybdena species of MoO(3)/CeO(2) and CuO/MoO(3)/CeO(2) catalysts as well as their surface acidity. The results showed that the molybdena monolayer modification promoted the dispersion of CuO due to the formation of new tetrahedral ...

Catalytic Removal of Soot from Diesel Engines Using CeO2, CeO2-CuO2, and CeO2-Al2O3 Nanocomposites

Materials Today: Proceedings, 2015
Nanosized CeO2-CuO2 (CeCu, 2:1) and CeO2-Al2O3 (CeAl, 2:1) were synthesized by co-precipitation from nitrate precursors using ammonia solution (NH4OH) as the precipitating agent. The catalysts were calcined in air at 500°C for 4 h to evaluate the thermal stability. The techniques including XRD and DLS were used for catalyst characterization.

SO2 Adsorption on CeO2(100) and CeO2(111)

Topics in Catalysis, 2016
The adsorption and reaction of sulfur dioxide, SO2, was studied on oxidized and reduced CeOX(100) and compared to previous results on CeOX(111). SO2 adsorbs on oxidized CeO2(100) as sulfite, SO3 2−, at 200 K and sulfite is the only adsorbate observed on the surface at any temperature.

Promoting effect of CeO2 in a Cu/CeO2 catalyst: lowering of redox potentials of Cu species in the CeO2 matrix

Chemical Communications, 2001
The promoting effect of CeO2 in a Cu/CeO2 catalyst for CO oxidation and NO reduction compared to CuO and Cu/ZrO2 is deduced to be based on lowering of redox potentials of copper species in the Cu/CeO2 matrix in relation to CuO and Cu/ZrO2.

Ion storage properties of CeO2 and mixed CeO2/SnO2 coatings

Journal of Materials Science, 1995
Ion storage CeO2 and CeO2/SnO2 coatings were prepared by the sol-gel dip-coating method using an aqueous-based process. The influence of added SnO2 in the CeO2 oxide coatings on the inserted/extracted charge was determined by chronocoulometric measurements.

Preparation and catalytic performance of mesoporous ceria-base composites CuO/CeO2, Fe2O3/CeO2 and La2O3/CeO2

Journal of Porous Materials, 2016
Mesoporous CeO2-based oxides (CuO/CeO2, Fe2O3/CeO2 and La2O3/CeO2) were synthesized by a one-step hydrothermal method. CeO2-based oxides showed the undoped flower-like mesoporous microspheres of 2–6 μm in diameter with high BET surface areas. Copper, iron or lanthanum ions were each successfully doped into ceria and the dopants enhanced the amount of ...
