Effects of CeO2 nanoparticles on electrochemical properties of carbon/CeO2 composites

Applied Surface Science, 2018
Abstract The electrochemical properties of carbon were improved when composited with CeO2 nanoparticles making this material a candidate for high performance energy storage devices. Carbon was obtained from coffee husks by calcining at a temperature of 600 °C for 1 h.

Study of CeO2 XPS spectra by factor analysis: reduction of CeO2

Applied Surface Science, 2000
Abstract The evaluation of the reduction state of CeO2 by XPS is still controversial because of the presence of more than 10 peaks in the Ce(3d) photoemission spectra due to Ce3+ and Ce4+, some of them at similar binding energies. This makes difficult conventional fitting using nonlinear least-square (NLLSF) methods with Gaussian–Lorentzian curves ...

Nanostructured CeO2 Powders by XPS

Surface Science Spectra, 2006
Two different synthetic routes were used to synthesize three nanostructured cerium (IV) oxide powders: Two samples were obtained by precipitation from a basic solution of cerium nitrate and treated at 523 and 923 K, respectively, the third one was prepared by a microwave-assisted heating hydrolysis method and treated at 523 K.

Morphology effect of CeO2 on Ni/CeO2 catalysts for selective hydrogenation of cinnamaldehyde

Chemical Physics, 2021
Abstract A series of CeO2 with different morphologies (nanoparticles, nanorods and nanocubes) supported nickel catalysts were synthesized successfully using the hydrothermal route to investigate the morphology effects of CeO2 on these Ni/CeO2 catalysts for selective hydrogenation of cinnamaldehyde (CAL).

Microwave absorption properties of CeO2 and Zn-modified CeO2 microstructures

Applied Surface Science, 2012
Abstract CeO 2 and Zn-modified CeO 2 microstructures have been synthesized by a facile hydrothermal method and their microwave absorption properties have been investigated in detail. Complex permittivity and permeability of CeO 2 and CeZn paraffin composites have been measured over the range of 2–18 GHz.

SAXS and WAXS on TiO2, CeO2 and CeO2 and CeO2-SnO2 Thin Films at Grazing Angles

1999
In SAXS - beamline on ELETTRA we have measured SAXS and WAXS of thin films CeO2, CeO2-SnO2 and TiO2 on glass substrate in reflection geometry at grazing angles from 0.18 to 1 degrees.

Photoemission Study of CeO2 and SrCeO3

Journal of Electron Spectroscopy and Related Phenomena, 1996
Photoemission spectra of CeO2 and SrCeO3 have been measured in the Ce 4d → 4f photoabsorption region. The yield spectra of these compounds resemble each other in shape. The valence-band emission of SrCeO3 shows the resonant enhancement in the giant absorption region and the 4f-derived emission exhibits a single-peak distribution such as obtained in ...

X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy of dielectric films of CeO2, CeO2/Cd, and CeO2/SiO prepared by thermal evaporation

Spectrochimica Acta Part B: Atomic Spectroscopy, 1989
Abstract Thermally evaporated films of CeO 2 , CeO 2 /Cd and CeO 2 /SiO were studied using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Results showed that a slight reduction of Ce 4+ to Ce 3+ takes place upon vacuum evaporation of CeO 2 on to a substrate held at 100°C. This reduction is quite pronounced when a reducing substance such as SiO is co-evaporated

Synthesis and catalytic properties of CeO2 and Co/CeO2 nanofibres for diesel soot combustion

Catalysis Today, 2012
Abstract CeO2 nanofibres have been prepared by means of the co-precipitation and ripening method. The morphology of the CeO2 and the synthesis duration were influenced by changes in the mole ratio of the NaOH/citric acid. Three kinds of precipitates were obtained by increasing the NaOH/citric acid ratio: stuck-in-bundle, fibre and flake morphologies.
