Genomic‐Based Epidemiological Analysis of the Post‐Pandemic Mycoplasma pneumoniae Resurgence

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 2, February 2026.
Phylogenetic analysis of a global collection of 562 M. pneumoniae genomes revealed six distinct lineages, including three newly emerged main Chinese clades (MCCs) that co‐circulated in various regions of China. The recent emergence of these distinct clades and their differing geographical distributions may suggest ongoing divergent evolution within the

Staphylococcus aureus pneumonia and pararectal abscess in a horse secondary to catheter‐related septic thrombophlebitis

open access: yesVeterinary Record Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 1, February 2026.
Abstract This report describes the development of methicillin‐sensitive Staphylococcus aureus septic jugular thrombophlebitis, pneumonia and a delayed‐onset pararectal abscess secondary to bacterial embolization from intravenous catheterization in a horse and demonstrates the successful treatment of all aspects. A racing Arabian mare was presented with

Exploring the Potential and Evaluating Hydrocarbon Degradation by Novel Antarctic Dietzia and Pusillimonas Isolates From a Pristine Environment

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology Reports, Volume 18, Issue 1, February 2026.
The Antarctic Dietzia and Pusillimonas isolates were tested for bioremediation applications. Genomic analyses revealed the potential to degrade complex organic compounds, potential virulence factors and resistance genes. Physiological assays showed a wide range of adaptation to abiotic factors and sensitivity to different groups of antibiotics ...

The Role of the Gut Microbiome in the Complex Network of Frailty Syndrome and Associated Comorbidities in Aging

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 25, Issue 2, February 2026.
This study analyzed gut microbiota in older adults with and without Frailty Syndrome by 16S rRNA gene sequencing and metagenomics. Frailty was associated with altered microbial composition, metabolic functions, and increased antimicrobial resistance, whereas non‐frail individuals showed healthier profiles.

Aberrant Growth in 5‐Year‐Old Children After Antibiotics in the First Week of Life

open access: yesActa Paediatrica, Volume 115, Issue 2, Page 309-318, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Aim We examined the relationship between early‐life antibiotics, different regimens, and growth until age five years. Methods Data from two parallel birth cohorts were analysed: 128 healthy term‐born children and 147 term‐born children who received antibiotics for suspected neonatal sepsis, randomised across three regimens: Amoxicillin ...
