Urinary biomarkers in multicentric studies: Shaping the future of bladder cancer diagnosis and follow‐up

open access: yesBJUI Compass, Volume 6, Issue 12, December 2025.
Abstract Background and Objective Bladder cancer (BC), a prevalent malignancy, poses significant diagnostic and surveillance challenges due to its high recurrence rates and reliance on cystoscopy, an invasive procedure for diagnosis and monitoring.

Comparison of Sofia 2 Respiratory Syncytial Virus Fluorescent Immunoassay to Real‐Time Polymerase Chain Reaction Assay in Children Under Two Years Old Hospitalized With Acute Respiratory Illness in Amman, Jordan: A Cross‐Sectional Study

open access: yesHealth Science Reports, Volume 8, Issue 12, December 2025.
ABSTRACT Background and Aims Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a leading cause of acute respiratory infection (ARI) in children, particularly in low‐ and middle‐income countries. Rapid diagnosis is important for management and infection control. We aimed to evaluate diagnostic accuracy of Sofia 2 RSV fluorescent immunoassay (FIA) compared to reverse‐

Chicago–Carnegie Hubble Program: A Multiwavelength Search for the Effects of Metallicity on the Cepheid Distance Scale. II. Theoretical Models and Synthetic Spectra

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
This is the second of two papers exploring the effects of metallicity on the multiwavelength properties of Cepheids in terms of their multiwavelength period–luminosity (PL) relations, impacting their use as extragalactic distance indicators and ...

Invasive disease‐free and overall survival after (neo)adjuvant chemotherapy in postmenopausal patients with hormone receptor‐positive, HER2‐negative early breast cancer treated with upfront letrozole: Experiences from the phase IV PreFace trial

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, Volume 157, Issue 11, Page 2363-2373, 1 December 2025.
What's New? Neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT) can be highly effective for patients with early‐stage breast cancer. Patients with hormone receptor‐positive (HRpos), HER2‐negative (HER2neg) breast cancer, however, may benefit less from NACT. Here, the authors investigated survival outcomes with adjuvant chemotherapy or NACT in a population of ...

Variable stars in Galactic globular clusters

open access: yesAstronomy & Astrophysics
We identified a sample of 88 bona fide Population II Cepheids (henceforth referred to as Cepheids) and 44 candidates in Galactic globular clusters (GCs). Seventy-eight of the Cepheids in the sample align within 2 σ of the period-luminosity relation for Milky Way Type II Cepheids (T2CEPs).

Viability of Self‐Taken Vaginal Swab Samples for RNA‐Based Biomarker Analysis in Cervical Disease

open access: yesJournal of Medical Virology, Volume 97, Issue 12, December 2025.
ABSTRACT High risk human papillomaviruses (hrHPVs) cause most cervical cancers. Cervical screening programmes aim to identify precancerous disease using detection of hrHPV nucleic acid using clinician‐taken liquid‐based cytology (LBC) samples, or increasingly, self‐taken samples (STSs).

Fundamentalization of Periods for First- and Second-overtone Classical Cepheids

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Letters
Almost half of all classical Cepheids do not pulsate in fundamental mode, and nowadays, the fundamentalization of their higher-mode periods is frequently applied to increase the sample size in astrophysical investigations and allow for comparison with ...

Long‐term risk and predictors of high‐risk human papillomavirus persistence after thermal ablation amongst women living with HIV in West Africa

open access: yesHIV Medicine, Volume 26, Issue 12, Page 1950-1962, December 2025.
Abstract Introduction Mounting evidence supports the use of thermal ablation in women positively screened with high‐risk Human Papillomaviruses (hrHPV) but limited data are available on the long‐term post‐treatment outcomes in women living with HIV (WLHIV).
