Skin Barrier Biomarkers in Patch‐Induced and Clinical Allergic and Irritant Contact Dermatitis

open access: yesContact Dermatitis, Volume 94, Issue 4, Page 317-326, April 2026.
Both patch‐induced and clinical ICD and ACD showed consistent alterations in skin barrier‐associated biomarkers, indicative of skin barrier impairment. Among the tested allergens, chromium elicited more pronounced biomarker responses compared to nickel and methylisothiazolinone.

Treatment of Melasma Targeting Dermal–Epidermal Interactions Utilizing High‐Intensity, High‐Frequency Parallel Ultrasound Beam in Asian Skin

open access: yesJournal of Cosmetic Dermatology, Volume 25, Issue 4, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Melasma is a multifactorial disorder, and while treatments aimed at suppressing melanin production and removing excess melanin have demonstrated some efficacy, no definitive therapy has yet been established. Dermal aging is widely recognized as a contributing factor in melasma, and previous studies have demonstrated that the ...

ORMDL Proteins Turnover via Proteasome and Autophagy Is Cell‐Type Dependent and Tied to Ceramide Homeostasis

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 40, Issue 6, 31 March 2026.
ORMDL proteins in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) negatively regulate serine palmitoyltransferase (SPT) activity in response to the rate of de novo sphingolipid synthesis. Disruption of ceramide homeostasis by myriocin or fumonisin B1 (FB1) appears to destabilize the ORMDL‐SPT complex, leading to ORMDL degradation as a feedback mechanism.

Epigenetic Modulation of the ACE System Underlies the Slow Aerobic Muscle Phenotype and Metabolic Exercise Response

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 40, Issue 6, 31 March 2026.
Weekly moderate‐to‐vigorous activity (≈6 h) induced a marked increase in ACE promoter methylation in exercised knee‐extensor muscle. In combination with the ACE I/D genotype, ACE methylation contributed to ACE gene activity regulation in ways aligning with the slow‐twitch, aerobic muscle phenotype and its metabolic response to endurance exercise ...
