Laurdan: Clarifying Photophysics and Advancing the Characterization of Extracellular Vesicles

open access: yesChemPhysChem, Volume 27, Issue 5, 13 March 2026.
Biophysical properties of extracellular vesicles (EVs) reflect their composition and membrane organization. We introduce a novel approach using time‐resolved emission spectra (TRES) phasor analysis of the polarity‐sensitive probe Laurdan to characterize membranes with complex compositions.

The Microbiota Shapes Central Nervous System Myelination in Early Life

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 14, 9 March 2026.
Gut microbiota shapes brain development by regulating myelination and glial cell maturation in early life. Using germ‐free (GF) mice and zebrafish, this study reveals sex‐ and age‐dependent effects on myelin growth, integrity, and related gene expression.

F13A1‐Mediated Macrophage Activation Promotes MASH Progression via the PKM2/HIF1A Pathway

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 13, 3 March 2026.
In fatty liver disease, hepatocytes exposed to palmitate release S1P, which activates calcium signaling in macrophages. Elevated calcium enhances the activity of F13A1, driving PKM2 dimerization. The PKM2 dimers cause Warburg effect, translocate to the nucleus, cooperate with HIF1A, and upregulate IL1B expression, ultimately promoting classical ...

Lipid Profile Differences in HIV‐Infected Populations With Metabolic Dysfunction‐Associated Steatotic Liver Disease: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesChronic Diseases and Translational Medicine, Volume 12, Issue 1, Page 16-25, March 2026.
PRISMA study flow diagram. ABSTRACT Introduction Advances in HIV management have transformed HIV into a chronic condition, resulting in improved prognosis and increased survival among people living with HIV (PLWH). Traditional risk factors for metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD)—including dyslipidemia—are prevalent in PLWH.
