Japanagromyza cercariae Sasakawa
2010Japanagromyza cercariae Sasakawa Japanagromyza cercariae Sasakawa, 1963a: 26. Remarks. This species is similar to Japanagromyza cupreata in coloration, but is recognizable by its less shining mesoscutum, presence of spine on the antero-ventral apex of the cercus, and two apical spines on the claw-like surstylus, short membranous hypophallus, and two ...

Cercaria pseudoburti n. sp., a Strigeid Cercaria from Western Massachusetts
The Journal of Parasitology, 1939A survey of many ponds in western Massachusetts has revealed a high percentage of infection with larval trematodes. Collections are being made in some of these ponds every month to study the ecology of the cercarial fauna. Over 3,000 snails have been taken from a small pond in South Amherst, only one of which has been infected with a small species of ...

Ultrastructure of the Schistosoma mansoni cercaria
Micron, 2002The cercaria of the schistosome parasite is a short-lived, free-swimming larval stage that is infective for the mammalian, definitive host. This atlas describes the ultrastructure of the cells that comprise the cercaria of Schistosoma mansoni, a leading causative agent of human schistosomiasis.

Schistosoma mansoni: Eicosanoid production by cercariae
Experimental Parasitology, 1985Cercariae of Schistosoma mansoni are stimulated to penetrate skin by certain free fatty acids. The cercariae have an active arachidonate cascade, presumably using host skin essential fatty acids as cascade precursors. Exposing cercariae to 3.3 mM linoleate for 1, 10, and 60 min resulted in production of a wide variety of eicosanoids.

Studies on the Formation and Function of Mucoid Glands in Cercariae: Opisthorchoid Cercariae
The Journal of Parasitology, 1953In the present study four species of opisthorchoid cercariae are included: the cercariae of Euryhelmis monorchis Ameel, 1938 (Heterophyinae), Caecincola parvulus Marshall and Gilbert, 1905 (Cryptogoniminae), and two as yet undescribed species. Euryhelmis monorchis was obtained from Pomatiopsis lapidaria: Caecincola parvulus from Amnicola (Marstonia ...

Schistosoma mansoni: Cercaria to Schistosomule
1974Publisher Summary This chapter discusses the cercaria-schistosomule development of Sclzistosoma mansoni. The characteristic features of embryonic and emerged cercariae and of schistosomules are closely compared and contrasted in respect of tegument, glycocalyx, and tegumentary spines, sensory papillae, nerves and muscle, secretory cells, digestive ...

Cercaria donecerca n. sp. (Gorgoderid Cercaria) from Musculium partumeium (Say), 1822
The Journal of Parasitology, 1939In the examination of 37 clams, Musculium partumeiuzm, two have been found infected with a new species of gorgoderid cercaria for which the name Cercaria donecerca2 n. sp. is proposed. The clams were collected from a small pond near Cold Spring on Hudson, N. Y., in June, 1938. The infected clams have each produced about fifteen to twenty-five cercariae

[Mucoid glands of Cercaria baushii 6 (Xiphidiocercariae: Cercariae microcotylae)].
Parazitologiia, 2013Mucoid glands of Cercaria baushii 6 (Xiphidiocercariae: Cercariae microcotylae Luhe, 1909) were examined. Gland cells differ from each other in the time of differentiation and in size. A brief sketch on the morphology of parthenites is also given.
