Geometry‐driven thermal behavior in wire‐arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) influences microstructural evolution during nonequilibrium solidification of a chemically complex Fe–Cr–Nb–W–Mo–C nanocomposite system. By comparing different deposits configurations, distinct entropy–cooling rate correlations, segregation, and carbide evolution are revealed ...

Thermomechanical fatigue tests of laser beam powder bed fusion (PBF‐LB) Inconel 718 show that the additively manufactured material reaches almost the lifetimes of conventionally‐rolled material under no‐dwell conditions. Introducing dwell times at the maximum temperature markedly reduces the lifetimes due to pronounced grain boundary sliding associated

Combination of undersown catch crops and row-hoeing for optimizing nitrogen supply and weed control in organic spring barley [PDF]
This is an early result of a field experiment where we aimed to optimize a row cropping system for organic cereal production with the use of undersown cover crops in combination with inter-row ...

Cereal supplies in rural families of the Senegalese Groundnut Basin. Who is responsible for meeting family food needs ? [PDF]
In the traditional operation of production-consumption groups in rural areas of Senegal, the group chief, or Borom njël, has a social duty to make sure family food needs are met. His ability to do this is supported by certain social rules governing these

Maintenance breeding of conservation cereal varieties [PDF]
The experiments shows that within the heritage material, varieties are identified with unique quality traits, including taste, colour and backing quality, which are not found in high yielding modern varieties available for organic farming.

Disordered (Fe50Co50)1−xPtx thin films exhibit a pronounced anomalous Nernst effect (ANE) with a strong composition dependence on both rigid and flexible substrates. The transverse thermoelectric response peaks near 22.5 at.% Pt, accompanied by enhanced αxy/σxy scaling, thermal transport, and ANE sensitivity.

The presented study focuses on the fracture behaviour of carbon‐bonded magnesia MgO–C refractories, where environmentally friendly fructose, collagen and lignin serve as temporary binding agents. The partial substitution of the source material with recycled MgO–C reduces the fracture resistance, which can be counteracted by the additional introduction ...

Four‐point bending tests are conducted in an argon atmosphere on commercial MgO‐C brick grades with and without MgO‐C recyclate from room temperature up to 1300 °C. No detrimental effect of the MgO‐C recyclates on bending strength is found. Instead, a decisive influence of the total carbon content is observed, with lower total carbon contents ...
