Effects of pulsatile versus nonpulsatile flow on cerebral hemodynamics during pediatric cardiopulmonary bypass with deep hypothermic circulatory arrest

2001 Conference Proceedings of the 23rd Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society, 2005
Cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) with total circulatory arrest (TCA) adversely affects the neurologic outcome of pediatric patients after cardiac surgery. This study is designed to determine the effects of pulsatile versus nonpulsatile perfusion on regional and global cerebral blood flow (CBF), cerebral metabolic rate of oxygen (CMRO/sub 2/), cerebral ...

[Changes in systemic and cerebral hemodynamics in patients with chronic cerebral circulatory insufficiency of atherosclerotic origin].

Zhurnal nevropatologii i psikhiatrii imeni S.S. Korsakova (Moscow, Russia : 1952), 1984
Fifty atherosclerotic patients with chronic disorders of the cerebral blood circulation (CDCBC) were involved in this study of both systemic hemodynamics (by diluting Evans blue) and rheoencephalographic parameters of the cerebral circulation with regard to the stage of the CDCBC.

[Effect of papaverine on systemic and cerebral hemodynamics in atherosclerosis complicated by chronic cerebral circulatory insufficiency].

Zhurnal nevropatologii i psikhiatrii imeni S.S. Korsakova (Moscow, Russia : 1952), 1985
The parameters of the general and cerebral hemodynamics were studied in 36 patients with chronic insufficiency of the cerebral circulation following papaverine administration. In patients with the early stages of the disease, papaverine elicited a decrease in the arterial pressure and the peripheral resistance to the blood flow.

[The effect of isradipine on the central and cerebral hemodynamics of patients with circulatory encephalopathy and hypertension].

Eksperimental'naia i klinicheskaia farmakologiia, 1993
The new dihydropyridine calcium antagonist isradipine versus nifedipine was tested in 41 patients with essential hypertension and cerebrovascular insufficiency. The tests have shown that isradipine shows all hemodynamic effects by significantly improving cerebral blood flow and it is better tolerated than nifedipine.

[Central hemodynamics in young and middle-aged patients with the initial manifestations of cerebral circulatory failure].

Vrachebnoe delo, 1990
The authors studied the indices of general hemodynamics in 53 patients with initial manifestations of cerebro-circulatory insufficiency of young and middle age. Young patients suffering of cerebral atherosclerosis and vegetative-vascular dystonia showed a hyperkinetic type of hemodynamics while the middle-aged with atherosclerosis showed the ...

[Nocturnal sleep and cerebral hemodynamics in different sleep stages and cycles among patients with early manifestations of cerebral circulatory insufficiency].

Zhurnal nevropatologii i psikhiatrii imeni S.S. Korsakova (Moscow, Russia : 1952), 1985
Clinical and polygraphical (EEG, EOG, EMG, ECG, REG) studies of nocturnal sleep and of the hemodynamics were carried out in 60 patients with dyscirculatory encephalopathy induced by hypertension and atherosclerosis. The findings obtained demonstrate that the clinical picture in these patients is always characterized by sleep disturbances which decrease

[Respiratory and central hemodynamic responses during a session of hyperbaric oxygenation in patients with acute cerebral circulatory disorders].

Zhurnal nevropatologii i psikhiatrii imeni S.S. Korsakova (Moscow, Russia : 1952), 1982
On the basis of examining the changes of external respiration function and the central circulation in the course of treatment by hyperbaric oxygenation given to 64 patients with acute cerebral circulation disorders the authors have come to the following conclusions: a) patients with acute cerebral circulation disorders may show five types of the ...

[Clinico-hemodynamic evaluation of the efficacy of vasoactive and cardiotonic agents in the combined treatment of arteriosclerosis patients with chronic cerebral circulatory insufficiency].

Zhurnal nevropatologii i psikhiatrii imeni S.S. Korsakova (Moscow, Russia : 1952), 1988
In 370 atherosclerotic patients with chronic cerebrovascular insufficiency (CCVI) the authors have investigated the cerebral (by rheoencephalography) and the systemic (by diluting Evans blue) haemodynamics before and after correcting it with papaverine, euphylline, complamin, cavinton, corglycon, strophanthin, and sulfocamphocaine.

[General hemodynamic features in the cerebral circulatory disorders of patients with atherosclerosis and atherosclerosis combined with arterial hypertension accompanied by heart rhythm disorders].

Zhurnal nevropatologii i psikhiatrii imeni S.S. Korsakova (Moscow, Russia : 1952), 1979
Parameters of the general and cerebral hemodynamics were examined in 45 patients with cerebral circulation disturbances developed in the presence of atherosclerosis (30 patients) and atherosclerosis plus arterial hypertension with cardiac arrhythmias (15 patients) and without the latter (72 patients).
