Testosterone, sex hormone-binding globulin and dehydroepiandrosterone levels and cervical length of Egyptian women with a history of recurrent miscarriages, polycystic ovary syndrome and without the conditions at three stages of pregnancy

open access: yesJournal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, 2023
Total testosterone (TT), sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG), dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) levels, and cervical length (CL) were investigated in pregnant Egyptian women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS, n = 38), history of miscarriages (RM, n = 40 ...

Indicators for Cervical Length in Twin Pregnancies

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Perinatology, 2015
Cervical length (CL) is associated with the risk of preterm birth (PTB) in multiple pregnancies. However, the position of CL within the pathophysiological pathway of PTB is unclear, and it is unknown which factors are predictive for CL. This study aims to investigate whether in twin pregnancies baseline maternal and obstetrical characteristics are ...

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

EFFICACY OF CERVICAL CERCLAGE IN SONOGRAPHICALLY SHORTENED CERVIX IN WOMEN AT MODERATE RISK OF PRETERM DELIVERY

open access: yesPakistan Armed Forces Medical Journal, 2010
Objective: To compare the efficacy and safety of cervical cerclage following objective shortening of cervix by endovaginal ultrasound with elective cerclage in women at high risk of midtrimester miscarriage or preterm delivery.

Identification of biochemical biomarkers associated with premature cervical shortening in high-risk, asymptomatic pregnant women: a retrospective data analysis

open access: yesJournal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, 2023
Reliably predicting spontaneous preterm birth remains challenging, therefore it persists as a major contributor to perinatal morbidity and mortality. The use of biomarkers to predict premature cervical shortening, a recognised risk factor for spontaneous

USP29‐regulated noncanonical stabilization of the hypoxia‐inducible factor‐α in aggressive prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We identify USP29 as the only DUB mirroring CA9 expression, a marker of hypoxia and HIF pathway activation associated with PCA aggressiveness. USP29 stabilizes HIF‐1α and HIF‐2α via a noncanonical mechanism that is independent of PHD/pVHL activity yet relies on proteasomal regulation, establishing USP29 as a previously unrecognized regulator of hypoxic

Meta-analysis of the predictive value of ultrasonic measurement of cervical internal orifice width and cervical length for premature delivery

open access: yesJournal of the Pakistan Medical Association

Identifying transcription factors controlling the basal expression of human MRP4 highlights a substantial role for Sp1

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The MRP4 transporter exports several drugs and signaling molecules. Here, we identified key promoter elements regulating basal MRP4 expression. Using reporter assays, we defined a conserved region with essential Sp1 and contributory Ets sites, which controlled basal MRP4 expression.

Ultrasound Assessment of Cervical Length in Pregnancy

open access: yesTaiwanese Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, 2008
Cervical length in high-risk women for preterm birth has to be identified before early second trimester. Sequential evaluations lead to high predictive significance. The mean cervical length at 24 weeks is about 35 mm when measured by transvaginal ultrasound. A short cervix is defined as a cervix that is less than 25 mm and funneling, i.e.

Pharmacological inhibition of the PERK pathway modulates hepatocellular carcinoma growth and immune signaling

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Pharmacological inhibition of PERK in a DEN‐induced mouse model of liver cancer does not reduce tumor burden but alters cellular stress signaling. Despite blocking PERK activity, downstream stress responses, including CHOP expression, remain active, suggesting compensatory mechanisms within the unfolded protein response that may influence tumor ...
