NNPred: A Predictor Library to Deploy Neural Networks in Computational Fluid Dynamics software [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
A neural-networks predictor library has been developed to deploy machine learning (ML) models into computational fluid dynamics (CFD) codes. The pointer-to-implementation strategy is adopted to isolate the implementation details in order to simplify the implementation to CFD solvers.

Machine Learning‐Driven Multi‐Objective Optimization of Microchannel Reactors for CO₂ Conversion

open access: yesAdvanced Sustainable Systems, EarlyView.
This study introduces a novel method that combines CFD, RSM, and ML to improve a microreactor's performance utilizing the Sabatier reaction. A range of ML models is assessed, and the best one is selected to predict optimal reactor conditions. ML shows the ability to predict performance in just milliseconds, leading to a decrease in computational time ...

SediFoam: A general-purpose, open-source CFD-DEM solver for particle-laden flow with emphasis on sediment transport [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
With the growth of available computational resource, CFD-DEM (computational fluid dynamics-discrete element method) becomes an increasingly promising and feasible approach for the study of sediment transport. Several existing CFD-DEM solvers are applied in chemical engineering and mining industry.

Recent progress in CFD modeling of powder flow charging during pneumatic conveying [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
Thus far, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations fail to predict the electrostatic charging of particle-gas flows reliably. The lack of a predictive tool leads to powder operations prone to deposits and discharges, making chemical plants unsustainable and prime candidates for explosions. This paper reviews the rapid progress of numerical models

Recurrence CFD - a novel approach to simulate multiphase flows with strongly separated time scales [PDF]

open access: yesChem. Eng. Sci. 153 (2016), 394 - 410, 2016
Classical Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) of long-time processes with strongly separated time scales is computationally extremely demanding if not impossible. Consequently, the state-of-the-art description of such systems is not capable of real-time simulations or online process monitoring.

Anisotropic Surface Microrollers for Endovascular Navigation: A Computational Analysis with a Case Study in Hepatic Perfusion

open access: yesAdvanced Theory and Simulations, EarlyView.
Computational fluid dynamics analyses assess the upstream locomotion performance of anisotropic microrollers with varying height‐to‐width ratios. Observing their successful upstream locomotion in veins, their performance in hepatic circulation is investigated for treating primary liver cancer.

CFD computation of the Savonius rotor

open access: yesJournal of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, 2015
In this paper, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis of a two-dimensional two- -bucket Savonius rotor, using ANSYS Fluent solver, is presented. Computational methods of fluid dynamics are used to estimate the aerodynamic forces acting on the rotor, the torque and the power extracted by the Savonius rotor.
