Breaking Inversion Symmetry via Vanadium Coordination Engineering in Bismuth Vanadium Selenites

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Vanadium coordination engineering induces symmetry breaking in bismuth selenites by transforming symmetry‐compensated VO6/VO5F units into directionally aligned VO5 polyhedra. The resulting non‐antiparallel vanadyl arrangement eliminates dipole cancellation and stabilizes a polar noncentrosymmetric framework with nonlinear optical activity.

Inorganic Hole Transport Materials for Advancing n‐i‐p Perovskite Solar Cells: A Comprehensive Review

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Inorganic hole transport materials are comprehensively reviewed for advanced n‐i‐p perovskite solar cells through improved photovoltaic parameters, reduced ion migration and enhanced operational stability. Metal oxides, chalcogenides and hybrid inorganic‐organic hole transport layers demonstrate strong potential for achieving efficient, durable and ...

Nanoscopic Observation of Structural Changes After First‐Firing Behavior in W/GeTe/W Ovonic Threshold Switches Using AFM Tip–Based Local Biasing

open access: yesSmall Methods, EarlyView.
A local‐biasing system using AFM induces site‐specific threshold switching in Ge0.17Te0.83 films, enabling direct observation of crystalline/amorphous interface formation. First‐principles calculations reveal that this structural change induces Te 5p‐dominated mid‐gap states and electric field‐enhanced charge redistribution.

Nanomaterials‐Decorated Biomass‐Derived Carbon for Overall Water Splitting: Interfacial Engineering, Mechanistic Insights, and Device Translation

open access: yesThe Chemical Record, EarlyView.
Biomass‐derived carbon provides a sustainable, porous, and conductive scaffold that stabilizes nanomaterials for bifunctional hydrogen evolution reaction/oxygen evolution reaction catalysis. This review summarizes design strategies (defects, heteroatom doping, heterostructures, single atoms), mechanistic/density functional theory insights, degradation ...
