Combinatorial Synthesis of BaCu2Se2 Thin Films: Effect of Composition on Crystal Structure and Optoelectronic Properties

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
The emerging BaCu2Se2 semiconductor compound is synthesized in combinatorial thin film libraries for fast screening of its fundamental properties related to the application in sustainable energy sources. Ba‐rich and Cu‐rich compositions are explored.

Reductive Transformation of ALD TeO2 into Continuous and Impurity‐Free Tellurium Films

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Atomic layer deposition forms a conformal TeO2 template that transforms to elemental Te through TeH2 mediated reduction using Te(SiMe3)2 and NH3. The transformation is self‐limiting and yields continuous crystalline Te with oxygen‐free bulk and interface even at ultrathin thicknesses.

Breaking Inversion Symmetry via Vanadium Coordination Engineering in Bismuth Vanadium Selenites

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Vanadium coordination engineering induces symmetry breaking in bismuth selenites by transforming symmetry‐compensated VO6/VO5F units into directionally aligned VO5 polyhedra. The resulting non‐antiparallel vanadyl arrangement eliminates dipole cancellation and stabilizes a polar noncentrosymmetric framework with nonlinear optical activity.

Orbital‐Selective Modulation of Spatial pz‐s Hybridization for Enhanced Photocatalytic H2 Evolution: Insights From NiSe@ReS2+x Cocatalyst

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 138, Issue 19, 4 May 2026.
Spatial orbital‐selective modulation engineering is proposed as a strategy to optimize cocatalyst design, enhance photocatalytic activity, and provide novel insights into the interactions between active sites and adsorbates, as well as catalytic mechanisms.
