The Influence of Annealing on the Sb Layer in the Synthesis of [001]‐Oriented Sb2Se3 Film for Photoelectrochemical Hydrogen Gas Generation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
[001]‐oriented Sb2Se3 film with improved crystallinity and adjusted composition is achieved via a new thermal treatment approach consisting of preliminary annealing of the Sb layer before its selenization. The findings of this work demonstrate enhanced charge carriers' transportation, a stable performance, and an improvement of H2 generation from ...

High-pressure study of superconducting and non-superconducting single crystals of the same nominal composition Rb0.8Fe2Se2

open access: yes, 2011
Two single crystalline samples with the same nominal composition of Rb0.8Fe2Se2 prepared via slightly different precursor routes under the same thermal processing conditions were investigated at ambient and high pressures.

Strongly Correlated Cerium Systems: Non-Kondo Mechanism for Moment Collapse [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
We present an ab initio based method which gives clear insight into the interplay between the hybridization, the coulomb exchange, and the crystal-field interactions, as the degree of 4f localization is varied across a series of strongly correlated ...

Activation of anionic redox in d0 transition metal chalcogenides by anion doping

open access: yesNature Communications, 2021
Expanding the chemical space for designing novel anionic redox materials from oxides to sulfides has enabled to better apprehend fundamental aspects dealing with cationic-anionic relative band positioning.

Positive‐Tone Nanolithography of Antimony Trisulfide with Femtosecond Laser Wet‐Etching

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A butyldithiocarbamic acid (BDCA) etchant is used to fabricate various micro‐ and nanoscale structures on amorphous antimony trisulfide (a‐Sb2S3) thin film via femtosecond laser etching. Numerical analysis and experimental results elucidate the patterning mechanism on gold (reflective) and quartz (transmissive) substrates.

Band Alignments of GeS and GeSe Materials

open access: yesCrystals, 2022
Here we present new findings of a comprehensive study of the fundamental physicochemical properties for GeS and GeSe in bulk form. UV and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopies (UPS/XPS) were employed for the experiments, which were carried out on in situ ...

Extraordinary Magnetoresistance in Hybrid Semiconductor-Metal Systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
We show that extraordinary magnetoresistance (EMR) arises in systems consisting of two components; a semiconducting ring with a metallic inclusion embedded.

Local Thermal Conductivity Patterning in Rotating Lattice Crystals of Anisotropic Sb2S3

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Microscale control of thermal conductivity in Sb2S3 is demonstrated via laser‐induced rotating lattice crystals. Thermal conductivity imaging reveals marked thermal transport anisotropy, with the c axis featuring amorphous‐like transport, whereas in‐plane directions (a, b) exhibit 3.5x and 1.7x larger thermal conductivity.

Insights into the band gap anomalies of certain bismuth-based chalcogenides through ab initio calculations of structural and electronic properties

open access: yesResults in Physics
Unlike other conventional metal chalcogenides, where the Perdew-Burke-Ernzerhof (PBE) functional tends to underestimate band gaps, bismuth (Bi) chalcogenides, particularly Bi selenides, exhibit a counterintuitive behaviour with band gap predictions that ...

A Compact Model of Ovonic Threshold Switch Combining Thermal Dissipation Effect

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroscience, 2021
Ovonic threshold switch (OTS) has received great attention in neuromorphic computing due to its support for high-density synapse array as a selector and leaky-integration-firing functions Hodgkin-Huxley neurons.
