Designing Chamfers

The International Journal of Robotics Research, 1983
This paper discusses design criteria and procedures for straight and curved chambers to aid the assembly of parts. The chamfer is assumed rigid and the mating part compliant. Various criteria concerning the insertion force are used to derive chamfer shapes and slopes, both analytically and synthetically. The theory is verified by experiments.

Machining with chamfered tools

Journal of Materials Processing Technology, 2005
Abstract The application of chamfered tools in metal cutting is yet very much limited. Despite their better edge strength, relatively little research have been done so far to understand the effect of tool geometry on cutting variables and the mechanics of chip formation.
