Accuracy Assessment of Nondispersive Optical Perturbative Models through Capacity Analysis [PDF]

open access: yesEntropy, 2019
A number of simplified models, based on perturbation theory, have been proposed for the fiber-optical channel and have been extensively used in the literature. Although these models are mainly developed for the low-power regime, they are used at moderate

On the capacity and normalisation of ISI channels [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE International Conference on Communications, 2003. ICC '03., 2003
We investigate the capacity of various intersymbol interference (ISI) channels with additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN). Previous papers showed a minimum E/sub b//N/sub 0/ of -4.6 dB, 3 dB below the capacity of a flat channel, is obtained using water-pouring capacity formulas for the 1+D channel.

Interactive Channel Capacity Revisited [PDF]

open access: yes2014 IEEE 55th Annual Symposium on Foundations of Computer Science, 2014
We provide the first capacity approaching coding schemes that robustly simulate any interactive protocol over an adversarial channel that corrupts any fraction of the transmitted symbols. Our coding schemes achieve a communication rate of 1 - O(∈√loglog1/∈) can be improved to 1 - O(√∈) for random, oblivious, and over any adversarial channel.

The Single-Serving Channel Capacity [PDF]

open access: yes2006 IEEE International Symposium on Information Theory, 2006
In this paper we provide the answer to the following question: Given a noisy channel and epsilon>0, how many bits can be transmitted with an error of at most epsilon by a single use of the channel?

Channel Coding at Low Capacity [PDF]

open access: yes2019 IEEE Information Theory Workshop (ITW), 2019
Low-capacity scenarios have become increasingly important in the technology of the Internet of Things (IoT) and the next generation of wireless networks. Such scenarios require efficient and reliable transmission over channels with an extremely small capacity.

The Capacity of Channels With Feedback [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Information Theory, 2009
We introduce a general framework for treating channels with memory and feedback. First, we generalize Massey's concept of directed information and use it to characterize the feedback capacity of general channels. Second, we present coding results for Markov channels. This requires determining appropriate sufficient statistics at the encoder and decoder.

Capacities of Grassmann channels [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Mathematical Physics, 2011
A new class of quantum channels called Grassmann channels is introduced and their classical and quantum capacity is calculated. The channel class appears in a study of the two-mode squeezing operator constructed from operators satisfying the fermionic algebra.

Channel Capacity Bounds in the Presence of Quantized Channel State Information

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Wireless Communications and Networking, 2010
The goal of this paper is to investigate the effect of channel side information on increasing the achievable rates of continuous power-limited non-Gaussian channels. We focus on the case where (1) there is imperfect channel quality information available
